I think that man interpretates the Bible differently from the way God inspired it. I also think that man through their greed, pride, jealously, desire to be different, etc., has become very tolerant to God's truths. Man is in too big of a hurry to go nowhere they don't want to commit to Jesus Christ. Christianity takes some committment and a lot of people are scared to commit. So to answer the question, I think the problem lies not with religion but instead with man. We are never satisfied, if it doesn't rain we ask for rain, if we get rain we complain about the rain. If the weather is hot we wish for cold, then we get some cold and complain again that it is too cold.

This is actually a pretty good question. If we think about it, the different religions out there have created conflicts, some big and some small. If country leaders have a disagreement about something which has to do with their religions or their beliefs, the ethical thing for them to do would be to challenge the other in any way possible. I do think it's plausible to say that religion may be the cause/may promote war

Let me ask you a question there. Do you not have a television? Listen to the muslims speak about how they want to turn the entire world muslim or kill those who dont convert. Israel fighting Hezbollah. The problems in Somalia with the muslims. Catholics and protestants fighting in Ireland. The only thing religion has ever done has led to war. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Sunni and Shiites killing each other every day in Iraq. Every time i think about religion, i see someone holding a weapon, whether it be an AK-47 or even a bible or koran. Everything about religion is confrontational even though most promote peace and tolerance.

Yes, look at what is going on in the middle east.

Religion (not true faith) has over history been a driving force behind many wars, but not all. When a religion promotes itself as the only way of life and all others need be killed off, that is were the problem begins.

Right now their are those in Islam that believe if you don't convert you must be put to death. That is why they hate the USA and Israel. It is a battle of God and Religion, who's god is right.
It is a battle that those behind what is going on in the middle east want. They want to push their form of Islam on the whole world and they don't care how many have to die to get what they want.

How do you combat that? You can't reason with it, you either accept it or you die. The only thing you have left is to fight and fight because there is no other choice.

What do you do when someone wants to kill you, your way of life? If not fight, do you just die?

Israel has no other choice, their only other choice is to die. Same goes for the rest of us.

Factions of ALL major religions (Christianity, Islam & Judaism) have promoted war and continue to this day. It's insane to actually feel the need to take a human life in the name of religions that claim to be peace loving.

Absolutelly - What it depends upon are the people who are promoting the religion. Are these people distorting the word and brainwashing the followers to do something that will essentially hurt other individuals? Remember people will and can follow others into different situations.

Let us take Jim Jones - people followed him to death and they were mislead. If someone knows of the complete and total truth or they say they do, then your job is to continue to question them. We are all asked to question those in authority. If you do not you will be mislead.

Its true that religion has been a common excuse to go to war, but I refuse to believe that religion is inherently violent. I may be naive in my belief that an informed religious person would always prefer peace over violence but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.

No. The different religions I study in collage they promote peace. I do think people will use religion to promote their views and the use of violence.

Religion is probably one of the primary reasons their are war. Look at Israel, look at Pakistan and India(Islam and HInduism) these wars have gone on for over a century now.
