No, they are not the same. They are made my different by different companies and have different properties. Both are synthetic sugars that have zero calories but taste like sugar (or attempt to taste like sugar)

You can read about them here along with their safety information:

Sucralose (or splenda) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucralose
Asparatame: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame

Noooooooooo. Aspartame is dangerous! Sucralose is a derivative of the sugar cane itself. (Aspartame is purely chemical).
Aspartame can cause brain tumours, bladder cancer, and heart problems. Although sucralose (Splenda) uses a bleaching process (not 100% healthy) the only reported side effect has been fatigue in some people.

Not at all the same.Sucralose is an articicial sweetener but many of the ill affects of aspartame have never been shown in sucralose. This doesn't mean that there are no ill afects. The FDA may conceal this information or the testing is not complete yet.It has been shown to be a better alternative to sugar then aspartame. But there is no telling how objective or complete these tests are.Neither one is a sugar as some answers suggest. They neither raise blood glucose or cause any insulin secretion.

No, they are two different artificial sweeteners.

There have also been reports of sucralose being just as unhealthy as aspartame.

Sucralose is brand name "Splenda." I don't think they know yet if it's bad - they tout that it is made from sugar, so you would think it is safer than aspartame - but again, I think the jury is still out.

They are both artificial sugars.

Each artificial substance is designed to be sweeter than sugar.

Does "bad stuff" happen after consuming either artificial sugar?

Well, consider this "A compound chemically related to sucrose, 6-chloro-deoxyglucose, is known to have anti-fertility and neurotoxic effects."
