I'm trying not to show support because I think that would make me look gay. Is it ok to say sorry? I liked Superjunk's cat, but he should be a bit more manly about the situation, I think.

A pet holds an emotional attachment for a lot of people - they are companions! Yes tell him you are sorry for his loss. It is NOT gay to show compassion - it's called being human!! Would you want your friend to disregard your feelings because he didn't want to appear stupid! Have some heart!

Would you feel more sympathetic to him if it was a dog? I think your being stupid. I have a cat that is 15 had him since I was 12 when he dies I am going to be a wreck, but I suppose that's o.k. because i'm a girl...right?

dude....give him some love....you won't look gay. if anything there maybe cute girls around who will think that your just adorable for showing your sensitive side. Pet is a pet no matter what it is and people love their animals as much as family members. hell, my cats are part of my family.

LOL when I moved out the house and took the cat my mom ended up getting another one and naming is Buddy Jr. (Now, I even thinks that a little bit stupid) So you see if there was a family member that past away would you feel gay for showing your friend support?

ok listen here hon crying or saying you are sorry does not make any man or women look gay. In fact crying is more manly then not crying. Losing an animal is really hard on the person who owns it. Pets are family members not just pets. I know from my own experience that it's hard. Show your friend support and who cares what anyone else thinks. You friend needs support right now. Remember he just lost a family member not just a pet. Be a true friend be a real friend and help your friend through this hope this helps take care and god bless bye

Why is it not manly to show grief for something or someone that was loved? I have only seen my dad cry twice in my entire life. Once when my uncle died, and once when our cat died. There is absolutely nothing wrong with showing emotion, and it's actually very bad for anyone to keep it all bottled up. If you're worried about looking 'gay', which means, by the way, that you're not very secure in your own manhood, just say to him quickly and quietly "Sorry about your cat, Man" and leave it at that. If you can't do at least that you're not much of a friend.

Not showing support makes you look like a jerk. How does saying you're sorry make you look gay? Sitting and holding his hand probably would but that's not what you're talking about. No, he shouldn't be more "manly" about it. I have seen some of the most macho guys get teary eyed over an animal. Be a friend and say you're sorry. And tell him you liked the cat, too.

How sad for you that you think showing support would make you "look gay". And as far as your friend being "manly", let me tell you, he is more manly than you. Showing feelings, compassion and caring is HUMAN and shows the person has a heart and is well adjusted. Being some kind of macho-block of ice shows you have deep issues that need to be worked on in counseling.

OMG, I can't believe it's such a sin to do what humans do best....have emotions. Cats are just like dogs...part of the family and when a family member dies it hurts. People deal with death differently some cry, some get angry, some are quiet. Who cares how people deal with it. Are you that heartless that you won't show support for you friend? He is your friend isn't he? I'm sure if you were hurt he'd be by your side. This does not make you gay!! If you were sleeping with him....different story....please grow up and so some sympathy.

it takes a MAN to be their for his friend in a time of need , regardless of it being the passing of his cat . Would it be gay for you to say your sorry if it was a close family member. Gotta understand that some people view their pets as family and it hurts when that pet dies . Don't be a d i c k to your friend tell him you feel sorry for him . Tell him when no ones around if it bothers you so much

haha. more manly. he lost his cat.....he obviosly loved his cat. if you dont' want to support him then leave it be. not much of a friend to even give him a kind word though. even a small " i'm sorry you lost your cat" would probably mean a lot to your friend. you got some pretty 50's aged thinking when it comes to men and showing emotion or support. maybe that idea would work then, but maybe your the one that needs to learn what it is to be a man and be "manly"
