A salesman will promise the world of difference but again he gets commision it be fair its nominal a improvment on color saturation which means darker blacks and finer line but if the set is less the 27" it is nearly unchanged unless it is a HDTV, and only because HDTV process video the same for every sorce HD or not it all goes through a Hyperboard that brings it to the native format for the set so none ycb (component) look distored and pixelized because it must be converted to the YCB format the more digital converation the lower the quality so if you have HD it will be much improved if you have EDTV or a set the had component jacks but not HD then it will be a slight improvement but still remember this it is only 480i so it will never look HD even if it an HDTV... Now onto the cable choose dont be tricked into better cables and gold cables and this and that unless you own a tv that has gold connector and a dvd player with gold connectors the loose is so nominal it is unbleivable anyway good cables make good profit but not better pictures they have there place but remember its just a wire sending 4.5v and less info then you cable line to your house so dont go crazy. And for all you video audio files STOP READING COMSUMER REPORTS look up the cables properties it is such a small differance between a 5 dollar cable and $65 cable is it worth it unless you have the most anal mind in the world you wont notice for the life of you the diffenence, and if you do your a liar the whole set doesnt have anything but tin and lead makeing the pix so why on earth would gold help.

If you are using a fancy or large television (HDTV or larger then 25") you will notice a difference between Component and the standard TV coax connector. (The one that screws onto the back of the TV) If you are using Composite cables (The yellow RCA Plug) then the difference will also be noticeable to a normal person. The color will be crisper, the blacks more defined, and the definition will be better. If you are using a smaller television, then the difference will be quite small. It depends on what you are using now. It may be worth your time to try upgrading to the component cable hookup. If you don’t want to make the investment in cables (I don’t like expensive cables) use any RCA cables you have laying around. If you do not see a difference, you wont with expensive cables.

That depends on the impedance of the player, the shielding on the cable and the quality of the connectors. You can usually see and/or hear a difference between very good cable and cheap cables. I have found that the use of good quality, relatively inexpensive cables are the best answer.

You should see a brighter , sharper more crisper or vibrant picture. According to the experts the preference for connections are as follows: 1. component, 2. S-video, 3. Composite or RCA.

You should get a more cinema-like presentation. I noticed more depth into the picture along with cleaner color distinctions. If you get some cables, at the very least get the kind that feature gold plated connectors.

Here's my recommendation...
