BMWs are not bad, although it seems like older BMW were more dependable. In general, BMW parts and service are quite expensive. The car will last long provided you are taking a good care of it, but the upkeep costs will be definitely higher than those of Toyotas and Hondas.

Oh, GOD YES!!!

I had a BMW 7 series. It was a nightmare after 6 months, constantly needing repairs. I kept it for about 6 years (I mean hey, it was a Beemer!). I had so many problem, I have to say it was not worth it. I know other people with BMWs and some are really happy, but most complained. My step-son has a 5 series and it has a few problems too.

I won't ever buy another BMW again, personally. But if you really want one, they are nice when they are working right. But they can be expensive... everything started at $1200. I had a seat cable break and it was $20 for the seat, but 5 hours of labor @ $90. Replacing the seat was $1400!

They corner well, drive through any weather pretty well, but my 7 HAD to have premium.... considering gas prices...

I know it's disjointed, but these were the thoughts as they came through my head.

BTW, I got rid of it and picked up a little toyota p/u for a daily driver (great gas mileage, easy/cheap repairs)...

They will last a very long time, but every time you need anything done, even just an oil change it'll be twice as expensive as a different brand car like Toyota or something, just because of the name which is too bad.
