There are seldom restrictions in an area about setting up a business in your own home. When there are restrictions, that's called "zoning" and you have to comply with the zoning laws.
You also need to find out if there are county, state or federal license requirements.
Municipalities set standards such as keeping all or certain businesses out of residential areas.
Check with your local city offices. They'll tell you what department to go to.

yeah and it is cheaper too you don't have to worry about station rent and all of that. You would see more of your profit, but at the same time business may not be as fast as they would be in a hair salon.

Depends on what state you live in. Some are pretty strict. You can go to the state board of cosmetology website for some info. Where I live you can but it has to have it's own entrance, bathroom, etc.

As long as the City that you live in allows you to do so. Zoning governs this area and you should ask the City whether it is permissible. If you are living in a residential area, more likely, you cannot.
