I know this girl pretty well, but I just moved 2,000 mile away from where she is. She was one of my best-friends, but before I left and when I call her now it feels different. I don't really know how to describe it, but I forget all the **** that's been going on and I'm happy again. I want to know if it's possible to start a working relationship over long-distance, please help.

There are people that will tell you a long distance relationship doesn't work, but it surely can and due to careers and lifestyle choices a lot more people are doing it these days. It just really depends on the people involved and how committed they are to making it work. There are miles that separate you, so there has to be mutual respect and above everything, trust and maturity.

A friend of mine I worked with lives in WA state - but his wife lives and has a career in NYC. They've been married for almost 10 years. They visit as much as possible and it has worked extremely well for them.

People in a long distance relationship do have to work a little harder, because they don't have that constant physical contact. Communication becomes extremely important, even more-so than in a traditional relationship and that's what makes it so successful. They have to get back to the basics, that make a relationship strong. most long distance relationships that survive, definitely turn into marriage. Most people will tell you the horror stories, because it isn't for everybody and some can't fathom a relationship without having access to that person whenever they want.

I loved someone long distance for 6 years and it was beautiful. so yes, it can work if you love each other and you're both committed. If your relationship gets to the point where you may seriously consider it, talk about it at length. Make sure both of you have a good understanding of exactly what you're getting in to and the limitations that you'll both have.

Althought anything is "possible" the liklihood that this will develop over a long distance isn't that great. Can't you find someone who you can see when you want to, someone close by?

Doesn't work very well unless there's some "light at the end of the tunnel", as in, one of you planning to move to be with the other.
