I love my dogs.
They are not tied up in the kitchen and the door is not closed. They are distructive right know because they are puppies. Our profession trainer (with 30 yrd experience) sugested putting them in a kennel at night or in the kitchen. They have beds and about 15 toys. They are able to get comfortable.
Thank you for those who are answering the question that was asked!!!!

Several yrs. ago we had the pleasure of having two basset hound bitches living with us for a couple of months. They were not litter mates but none-the-less they were very, very bonded to each other.
We crated them in seperate crates in a downstairs room each night. The moment we left the room the baying started and they kept it up almost all night.
There was no way we could live with that!
So....we brought the crates to our room and bedded them. Same thing....Bayed all night...
Well, we had noticed that when they were out and tired they would sleep right up next to each other. So..we put both dogs into the same crate. What a show that was. It was a large dog crate but bassetts are big dogs!...but they loved it. They were perfectly comfortable, slept all night, and we were all happy campers right up to the day they went back to their breeder...
We did keep the crate in our room. As someone else said, bassetts are very social and do not like being alone if it isn't necessary.
Good luck...

Bassets are very sociable and prefer being around people than being left alone. If you're putting them in the kitchen while you leave for the day, then there's not much you can do. They eventually settle down and sleep. Unless you live in a noisy environment, like an apartment where kids play outside your door or in the stairwell. Squirting them with water won't really help; they won't understand what you're trying to do. You might try leaving a radio or TV on for background noise. Sometimes that makes them relax because it is the normal sounds in the house when you are home. Good luck.

Two puppies at once, and a Hound breed yet, are really to much for most people. I would NOT sell multiple puppies to novice dog owners.

That said, they are Scenthounds! If barking bothers you alot you have chosen the wrong breed. I would try crating them in your bedroom at night, they will probably be happier. They likely want to be with the rest of their pack (you).

Water bottles don't work very well with Bassets, most DO like it.

Sweety I'm a dog lover. You don't put your pets in the kitchen! I bet they aren't used to it and hence, start barking. I had my dogs in the hall....where they always were comfortable. So find a room they spend most of the time and place them there. Do you lock the kitchen door or tie them up?? Both are no-no's. You have to leave them loose. All the best!

With luck! They are hounds and generally bark more than other breeds. Try a bark collar. Or hire a trainer.
Good luck!
