Shouldn’t their actions and words be evidence enough?

Is it because, deep down some know that they aren’t behaving as God instructed them, and thus need to remind everyone of their “saved” status lest they forget? I’m only asking because a lot of the questions on Y!A have, “I’m a Christian…” in the subject and while actually speaking to a Christian, they’ll inevitably tell you as well. No flames, this is an honest question that has been bugging me for years.

You hit it right there. It's true; there are a lot of insercure christians who do bring up the fact that they're one because they want to make sure that people think of them as "righteous" as possible. It bugs me too. It's true. A christian should be able to just talk and go on with life in a way that other people notice as different ... and once they get to know them personally see that they are true followers of Christ. I really don't know what else to say other than any christian that reads your question, should question themselves. Thanks for asking!

I agree - it is not necessary for Christians to announce their Christian status regardless of the topic of conversation. As you say, their actions and the way they conduct a conversation should be evidence enough. It is very easy to let people know you are Christian without even using the word Christian.

Some people may be trying to earn their way into Heaven.

Others are just so thrilled abut their experience with Jesus that they have to share it with everyone they can.

Others are here to help people who are looking for spiritual truth.

the same reason atheist homos like me feel the need to call eveyone who doesn't agree with me a christian.

Doesn't matter who they are or what they are, if they dont' see things my way they are a christian and then i email them 200 times a day that their god hates gays cuz it makes me feel important.

Yeah i guess you kind of answered it for yourself. They are either not acting Godly, or they're just conceited... which isn't a top trait that Christians should have.
