They think they will be able to quit whenever they want to.
They think smoking relaxes them.
They think it looks cool.
They are drinking and they don't have any willpower, so they have a cigarette because somebody offers it to them. The next day, they find they want another one, and presto.
The percentage of people who smoke has gone DOWN so much that the cigarette manufacturers have had to put MORE addictive ingredients into the cigarettes, to ensure that when people smoke them they WILL be addicted. Cigarettes are actually MORE addictive than they used to be.
I smoked for 10 years, and I quit 26 years ago. I am lucky and smart that I quit when I did. At that time... in 1980... I saw that the cigarettes in the machine had just gone up to 75 cents per pack.
I was shocked!! I thought, "Wow... next thing we know they will be a DOLLAR per pack!" So I quit because I didn't want to spend that kind of money just to burn paper and tobacco and blow it out into the air. Best decision I ever made.

They are deluded by their beliefs
-I don't inhale
-it won't happen to me
-I only smoke the ones that say it harms the baby. I cnat get pregnant.
Smoking is also addictive and this is a strong pull back to it.

People like to live their life on the edge.
People who smoke are stupid!!
People won't learn until they get a desease!

Because at first it is the cool thing to do. Then when it is no longer cool, people cannot stop because of the nicotine, they get addicted.

well duhhhhhhhhh dey thank da will be off glass (cool) if dey start smokin and when dey find out dat its bad for u and u can die and dis bad stuff dey try to stop but dey cant cuz its so damn addictive

It's just a very bad Addiction. The Tobacco Industry, made it that way, & now people are hooked.!!!!, Sad but true!!!!!

well i am not for smoking and i hate the way it smells but you can die of anything. people drive cars without seatbelts on and get in accidents and die but do others learn? so i guess until it hits close to home then there is nothing we can do to stop them.
