Try the patches, try the gums, and if none of that works then the absolute best thing is to try hitting yourself across the face everytime you go to do it. now i don't mean take a board and hit yourself with it but just kinda tap yourself across the face and say hey man what the hell am i doing if that don't work think of it this way would you smoke in front of your mom if you did what would she do to you prob slap u.

The patch and gum 'helps' but unless you have your 'mind-set' to quit, you won't. It is "mind over matter". It is an extremely had habit to break. One thing that helped me the most was to change my routine(s). Instead of using my right hand to brush teeth, I used my left. Shower at night just before going to bed. When the urge hits you, sit back and think about something you like to do or see then take 10 'real' deep breaths and exhale slowly. If the urge is still there, do it again. Get something to do with your hands. Do a hook-rug, sketch on a pad, or as silly as it sounds, get a 2 x 4 about 2 foot long, about 10 16penny nails and pound the nails into the board (not all the way), just 3 or 4 blows, then pull them out. In other words, keeping your hands and self busy will get you over the immediate urge. It takes a long time but you can do it. Look around you and see how many people you know that use to smoke and have quit. You Can Stop Smoking. Just change a few things. Good Luck.

I have smoked way too long, and have “paused” for a year or so at a time, but never quit! Despite what people tell you, all the people I have known who have stopped just didn't light up! I know that sounds too simplistic in this day and age of patches and drugs, but it is true!

The actual physical addiction, even for a heave smoker is about 24 to 48 hours. Everything past that is just wanting to smoke.

You have to want to NOT smoke more than you want to smoke.

As an ex-smoker the wake-up call to stop smoking is necessary, you already have got this call. As for me, I once ran for the bus and nearly choke trying to catch my breath and I was panting like a pig and missed the bus to boot. From that day onwards, I decided to stop smoking. It was not a miracle, it didn't happen just then and there, but a couple of months later, I threw all the cigs away and have never looked back since.

i was aheavy smoker for about 20 years plus, about 2 packs a day - i didnt have any health problems from smoking, BUT when i noticed people standing outside one day next to a restautant, freezingtheir butts off for a puff, i though what losers and decided to stop smoking.
I used a product called quit - its a nicotine spray that comes in 4 levels - high dosage down to zero - i stopped smoking first attempt - first week was hell - but the spray and lots of chewing gum helped get over the addiction - havent smoked nor get the urge for 5 years now.
I have also helped my brother in law stop smoking with this - also a fairly heavy smoker
I once tried the nicotine gum, but it just left a foul taste and didnt realy help.
you need to be in the right frame of mind and you should be able to stop - it is a major change of life style, but im happy i managed to stop

This is going to sound lame, but it must be a mind issue, so this works. Simply dump all your smokes in the toilet telling yourself that you quit smoking... you are now a non smoker. Anytime you want to smoke (and this will be often and likely forever, that's why this is so much of a mind game) just remind yourself that you are now a non smoker and non smokers don't smoke... only smokers smoke, right? It takes along time to get over the want to smoke. My uncle has been a non smoker for 27 years and he says he still has to remind himself that he is a non smoker and non smokers don't smoke. Best wishes

Don't do it. narrow down the places you aren't allowed to smoke. Then make the same choices in areas like your vehicle. Next while on your computer! Tell yourself, these are the areas that are NO SMOKING areas! If you are not allowed to smoke in these areas, it is all mind control on your part. The cigarette companies will not stop making them because of the money. They are making profits off you. First by making them, next by making patches etc which only make you spend more money, why should you treat nicotine, with nicotine? 99% of the time they don't work, but they continue to make more money! If all else fails, try accupunture. Our conventional methods suck, keep you on drugs. Best of luck to you!

Whenever you feel like smoking, drink a half-glass of cold water..

As soon as you drink, you do not feel like smoking till considerable time.

Practise this, and if you are really determined to stop smoking, then after third week, you find urselves as a nonsmoker.

It's a clinically proven concept.

You have to want to quit more than anything else in your life. You have to never smoke again even if it kills you. Really, you feel that way. I quit 30 years ago and that was the best thing I ever did in life. JUST DO IT !!!
