The oddest part to me about this whole situation is that Christians defend Israel because they believe the Bible says that the land is that of the Jews, it has been promised to them by God. However Orthodox Jews are completely against the state of Israel, stating that the Torah itself (the O.T.) forbids any Jewish state.
The second part that baffles me is that while Christians are defending the Israelis and supporting them in this war, they're not realizing that the Israelis are killing Christians as well, with absolutely no regrets. Lebanon is the country in the Middle East with the Largest population of Christians (around 35-40%), and Israel is seeking to destroy it. Should that not offend western Christians even in the smallest way?

Sorry friend
I have read the bible quite a bit and never saw anything about America defending Israel, or any other illegitimate government that oppresses and alienates the bulk of its population.
This is a popular misconception that is used as a defense by the historically ignorant to defend the idea that it’s ok to give the country of one group of people to some other group of foreigners. This was done to solve a European problem by placing it squarely on the backs of the Palestinian people. The question you need to ask your self is why do the Palestinians need to give up their homeland, Palestine. So a group of European foreigners can have a homeland. All based on some ancient claim found only in questionable literature.
This is the equivalent of saying that all of us in America need to give up our homes, and all we have worked for and give it all back to those of Native American decent. This will never even be considered even though the Native American people have a far more logical claim.
Think about it. Don’t just believe the nonsense about the Palestinian people that you hear on the so-called news.
Be very careful about deciding that someone is the aggressor in a given situation, when everything you know about him or her comes from someone who hates them.
After all how objective can these ideas really be.
Love blessing and peace be upon you.

NO. That would only complicate an already complicated situation. It would be seen that Christians and Jews are against Islam, and that will only make things worse. A leader from al Qaeda has already stated that Islam will gain control from Spain to Iraq, so they are ready to fight in a very serious way, and if America gets involved, look out for the terror cells in the USA. 9/11 could be a picnic in the park compared to what could happen. Bush and Blair know that and that's why they're holding back.

I don't think Americans see this as a Holy War (perhaps only those well versed in scripture do). The U.S. and the Int'l community has an obligation to support Israel since they established it in 1948. Yes, it is a moral obligation.

There's something to be said for doing the right thing, and defending Israel is the right thing. If we, as a nation, do what others feel we should do, or behave according to what is popular, then what do we stand for? It's the same as in our own personal lives. We have to do the right thing. Otherwise, how can we live with ourselves?

I think defending Israel is fine, but just dont think you can make a difference there,War has been a way of life in that part of the world for 2000 +`yrs and nothing that the states can do is gonna change a damn thing.
I dont think it's possible for the us to make "more"enemies.

I think America should help in the defense of Israel -- I've always thought that we as a superpower should help even those that we didn't have a financial or otherwise interest in. If we turn our eye, eventually the other countries ills become ours in the end. Sadly, I think because of our involvement in Iraq, the American powers that be, think we would be spreading ourselves to thin, and if we do get in involved it will be to a minimal extent.

Yes! If we want God to bless us, America needs to defend and support Israel at all costs, because God is going to curse all nations who do not support Israel and bless the nations that do support Israel.

Definitely. I think one of the reasons God has not judged this country that has been slowly falling away from honoring Him is that He plans to use America to defend the Jewish nation. As He told Abraham long ago - "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you."

Yes, The Jews are Gods chosen people and Gos said, I will bless them that bless you and I will curse them that curse you. I believe we should pray for Gods will to be done and for protection for Israel and The US along with supporting them.
