The High Museum has some fabulous exhibits.
The Bodies exhibit at the Civic Center, if you're not squeamish.
If you like shopping, spend a couple hours strolling around Lenox Square, and for the upscale stuff, check out Phipps Plaza, which is catty-corner from Lenox.
Fernbank Museum is always worth a visit.
Definitely walk around Centennial Park! Bring some old clothes so you can scamper through the fountains.
See if you can set aside a day for Stone Mountain park - and stay for the laser show.
No visit to Atlanta is complete without a trip to the Varsity eatery. The food is far from healthful, but the onion rings are without peer!
All that is just for starters!

Definitely check out the aquarium, but call NOW to make your time reservation.
Great restaurants, like Blue Pointe, South City Kitchen and Bachanalia. Nightlife is great... Buckhead is the place to go. Check out Piedmont Park and the downtown area, but stay away from Underground. Cool neighborhoods to visit are Virginia Highands, Little Five [Points], and Vinings (a little outside Atlanta). There's an abundance to do that's not touristy.

I don't think you'll run out of things to do. I think that your travelling buddy will keep you plenty busy....
I've never been to Atlanta, or I would offer to paint the town red with ya.. Oh well. I'm sure you'll have fun
