Why for instance, does he get into slave beating politics, but doesn't meantion anything more ethically complex in there for us to use today, like when it is ok to have an abortion, if at all?
He is the all knowing being and his "word" was meant for us for today, right? Why not throw some more useful things in there instead of all the offensive, sexist and disgusting stuff (like how to make an animal sacrifice, how to sprinkle the blood around, and how to burn it)?
Why was the philosopher Aristotle (also living around biblical times) able to write on the ethics of abortion (meantioning abortion by name, specifically, since there was abortion back then) but God himself couldn't manage to do this in his book? Are the details of animal sacrifice and the politics of beating slaves, etc. more important than the extreme ethical challenges of today? (abortion, stem cell research, genetically modified plants and food, cloning, etc.)
...or was it just written by primitive men?

I didn't think any christian would be able to understand the question:
the question is: IF IT IS MEANT FOR US TO LIVE BY, FOR ALL ETERNITY, WHY DOES HE MEANTION ANIMAL SACRIFICE RITUALS AND THE POLITICS OF SLAVE BEATING BUT YOU HAVE TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES TO FIND ANY ADVICE ON ETHICAL DILEMMAS OF TODAY?
THIS IS CLEARLY NOT A BOOK WRITTEN BY GOD IF ARISTOTLE CAN WRITE ON THE ETHICS OF ABORTION 2000 YEARS AGO, BUT GOD COULDN'T MANAGE TO DO THE SAME---INSTEAD HE ENDLESSLY TALKS JIBBER JABBER AND USELESS INFORMATION (SOMETIMES VILE AND DISGUSTING INFORMATION).
I notice some of you revert to your jibber jabber as well when confronted by a serious implication of the book you worship. I guess that is why this book seems to make sense to you.
lol and another thing, why people think I haven't read the bible cover to cover I do not know)-oooh, yeah, that's right, Christians don't read it and they assume others haven't either.

The bible has been translated many times over...A lot of the meaning is lost during this translation......We can't just take things as you read it...you have to really study and use refreence books to truly understand it and open your heart for the answer to come. These things you mention are taken out of context..........this can't be done and be taken literal. You have to read the whole passage and use other books.

The Bible is a book of written words. But like the writing on this page, the words mean different things to different people. Your mind sees words in the way that it was programed by God if you believe in Him, or by chance. It does not matter which you believe in.
Words are seen by the eye, the eye sends the information to the brain. But the key is in what is formatted in your Brain. A dog sees the same words and to him they mean nothing. I see in the words of the Bible the information I need. And you see nothing. That is the truth that is found in the Bible. For those who need the words, they are there. For those who do not need the words, there is nothing. And for many others, the words make no sense.
My dog needs nothing in the Bible. But because I believe, I find what is in the Bible that is important to him and give it freely to Him. I am doing that now for you. The Bible commands that I love you and treat you with respect even though you can read the words, and not get meaning. If you should ever need to know that the Bible says to you, you simply must read it with your mind "prepared" to get its message. And if you read it and find no message, then you were not meant to understand.
Some people get along fine without the messages found in the bible, but most find information in the parables, the actions of Christ and in the love between Christians.
My God gives the answer to abortion in the Bible. My God says that abortion is the right thing to do and He says that the proof is found in the fact that he aborts via miscarriage every day.

I believe that God figured we would be smart enough to figure out those meanings. After all He gave us dominion over the animals and a very good set of rules to live by.
What do you think He meant when He was explaining what should happen to someone that caused the death of an unborn baby? Don't you think He meant that abortion is wrong? Afterall He did tell us to not kill. And sometimes I wonder did it do any good for some people. He did mention how wrong homosexualism was yet people still question if God condoned it?
As far as what was to happen if a slave was mistreated , does that sound like He was telling us how He wanted us to treat each other, it does to me. Remember that Jesus spoke in parables when He was here not everything was clear cut to all who heard it. But most of the followers understood what He meant.
My question to you is why do people like to pick apart the Holy Bible, when it is God breathed?

It was written by Man though the Holy Spirit...........Abortion is Murder as well as Stem Cell research when done in the matter of putting the Egg and Sperm together.........The Bible can't not go into to all Details that we would like for it too because if it did then there would not be enough books to entail the whole tail..........the Bible is like a Manual Guide to help you get through to Heaven......but no one is perfect and Aristotle is not correct on all his findings so he is correct and not to be trusted......As far as Man being primitive..........God Gave Man demoing over the Earth.......BUT no where in the Bible does it state that MAN HAS A RIGHT TO ABUSE this authority...........Although he does because Man is more cruel than anything I have read or seen
Thanks sorry so long................God Bless you and yours

Your main focus seems to be abortion.
From that standpoint,
- The bible illustrates how sex is intended for a married man & woman. Between the couple having children was ordained by God. An abortion in this instance, why?
- One of the commandments is thou shall not murder, a life being formed has already been given a soul, therefore, contrary to some beliefs......it is murder.
- Original & continued sin facilitates the so called "necessity" of abortion.
- Because of original sin we have such abominations as rape, it is a horrible thing, having said this, abortions are a personal decisions & all sins can be forgiven, we all have to give an account before God.

hello:}
i do believe you have answered your own question for sure .also while i feel the bible may hold some truths to it they have been so misinterpeted and changed so often it is no wonder we can not get to the truth .
for me the only thing in the bible that makes absolute sense is treat your neighbor like yourself .living by this rule there could be no war ,killings ,no injustices because we wouldnt do it to ourselves .
the "bible"was changed around the year 300 because more of the truth was written in this book and men in power had little control over mankind ,so they figured by putting hell and damnation into it by re writing it ,by taking re-incarnation out of the book [believe this part or not ,im just sharing information ].people would be damned if they didnt follow the 'rules'like who can ?????the reincarnation aspect made people feel like they had all the time in the world to progress there souls ,they didnt need to be lead around like a herd .but if you thought you had one life to perfect your soul and had to follow all the rules of organised religion it would scare you into going to church etc etc .BUT it sure is a sorry cry from what humanity is suppose to be about isnt it ?
we continually fight over who is right ?religion has been totally taken out of context .you can find the right spiritual guidance from within yourself .
well i could go on and on but your get the point .
the bible does not share everything that the master teacher taught ,altered, and changed to some sort of book that can not be understood throughly ,i think the original must have had more teachings in it ....dont you ???

The bible is a collection of writings, written by man, which contains a lot of myths and stories, as well some good, positive writings. But people take it too seriously. For example, if God wanted to make this planet and put people on it (who he supposedly loves), then why is he letting war go on for centuries? Why does the bible say "thou shalt not kill", but yet he doesn't lift a hand to stop the millions of deaths that occur in war -- and all from men who say they are fighting in his name?
Again, myths will cause people to believe in strange things, usually out of fear and in an attempt to control others.

I don't think the Bible is the only way to know what God's opinion is. I believe in a living prophet and 12 Apostles and ongoing revelation. It might be helpful to study both the letter and the spirit of the law. Also, a good Bible commentary might help you out as well.

Bible is not only about animal sacrifice and politics of beating slaves there is more to it if we follow bible to its true essence there wont be any problems like what you have mentioned. The problem with everybody is they use religion for their selfish motives or worst dont use them at all and due to which if there are any problems guess who is going to get the blame, u r right its GOD.The problem is us, not the bible or God.Its us.
Jesus gave a soluion to our problem He said "LOve thy neighbors as thyself and love thy Gdo with all your heart"
Tell me how many are truly following this, already there will be many who will be hating me for misspelling God and adding two capital letters for love. This is the problem, we love to hate each other and hate to love each other. we love our little selves, more.
We want to find others faults not with an attitude of helping or uplifting them but with an attitude of glorifying oneself.Nobody is perfect let us change ourselves first.
If a thousand christs come because of which four thousand bibles come the world is going to be the same, if there is anything that you can change, that is yourself.Lets try to work on that.

What God is like (or whether there even is a God) is an unrelated matter to the bible. The bible was provably written by roughly 55 mortal people and then altered by Royalty to serve their needs, and even if it was originally "inspired by God", He's done a poor job of protecting its contents. It is FULL of errors, contradictions, untruths and misguided advice.
"The Bible" and "God" are really two largely-unrelated things.
