Yes. It's amazing how they compensate for the missing leg.
It's no big thing for them . They manage to keep their balance quite well

Yes I have. There was was a stray Great Dane that got left behind by some campers at our lake home when I was younger. Everyone adopted him and cared for him. No one new what happened to him, but he had three legs. One was missing from the back. It must have happened when he was a puppy though because he could keep up and run just like he had four like our dogs. You would never know the difference if you didn't stop and look and pay attention to the number of legs he had.

Yes, one of my mom's dogs has three legs. He was hit by a car and had to have one of his back legs amputated.
He is the third three legged dog that my family has had. The first was hit by a car, the second was shot, and the third was also hit by a car (the one I mentioned above).

Yes, he lives by me. He's adapted very well to the loss of one of his front legs. He still does everything the other dogs do and they treat him the same as before he lost the leg.

I know three legged dogs that had one leg amputated due to cancer. They still run around and play hard like they did when they had four legs. They still jump, swim and climb stairs. It seems as though they can't even tell that there's anything different about them!

We see them all the time after we have to amputate a leg. They bounce back quickly and walk fine with 3 legs. People think it is so funny to name them Tripod- so NOT original!
