Yes it should be easy. If you are seeing a D: drive, I am assuming you have a C: drive that Windows is running on. Am I correct in that you have 1 drive with 2 partitions? (C: and D:)

If so, right-click on My Computer and then select Manage. Then click on Disk Management under Storage. You will see the partitions. Format the D: drive from the Action menu.

It's a good idea to format it with the same file system as your C: drive if you plan on move files from one to the other.

Good luck!!

To delete partitions on my hard drive (i.e., to merge the partitions back into the C drive):

You can choose to delete a partition in which case all the data in the partition will be destroyed.

To delete a partition (and all of its contents): click Start, Control Panel. In Classic view, double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Computer Management, and then click Disk Management. All of the partitions will be listed in the right window. Select the one you wish to delete. Click Action, All Tasks, Delete Partition.

Drop down into your command prompt, and look for a program called FDISK. If you have logical partitions, it will identify them. Pick the partition you wish to format, and tell fdisk to look at it. When it does, you then tell it to erase the partition, recreate it as a NTFS or Fat partition, depends on what you are using. When its finished, go into the prompt again, exit fdisk in other words, and type Format D:/ and it will go ahead and do it!
