Would a 72 hour cease fire help the Middle East conflict?

First of all, you can't make anyone stop fighting. Second of all, it gives Hizbollah more time to get their crap from Iran. No, it wouldn't help. You don't negotiate with terrorists. I'd like to know why the whole world needs to tell these two what to do? I think that they need to fight it out for themselves. It will help the US in the long run because Israel actually KNOWS how to fight...unlike the US who worries too much about politics issues.

No. The way to end the war is for one side to achieve victory. Only then will the losing side stopping pushing for more war.

The German and Japanese people supported the Nazi-led war. It was only the complete and utter deafeat of the German and Japanese people that transformed them into the peacful European and Asian nations they are today.

I hope Israel achieves victory. They are democratic and have a large Arab population with full rights as citizens, over 1 million. Are there any Arab/Muslim nations that tolerate democracy or religious freedom?

It would help if both the parties to conflict negotiate a peace deal.That would be a miracle of sorts.
It would'nt really help if both the warring parties regrouped and started the war again.
But yes,the 72 hrs might help the innocent civilans move to safer places.

Biggest mistake of Vietnam was calling a bombing halt ever now and then. The idea was the NVA would take it as a olive branch and talk. Instead they bought in more arms and men free from air attack. Would expect guys who chop heads to just say, "OK, we will stop now and go back to reading the koran?" The problem would not be solved, they would still be in firing range of israel. Hell, Israel pulled out of Gaza freely and the thanks they got was Hamas...... No way pal.

Yes it would help the conflict, it would allow Hezbollah to regroup and redeploy so they can wage war all the better. Problem is that we don't want to help the conflict we want to end it.

i think it will help the Lebanese people so they can get some aid, and by israel not excepting it, it making iran very happy that makes israel look very bad, and they will only distant themselves from the rest of the world.
