It is a paramilitary group formed in Lebanon during the Israeli occupation in 1987. Their formation was a legitimate patriotic resistance to the Israeli occupation. Israel gave back all occupied land a few years ago, thus making the group's purpose mute. They have not laid down their arms, however. They are still upset that thousands of their comrades are still in Israeli prisons. That is why they kidnapped the Israeli soldiers recently, in hopes of making a prisoner exchange. If Israel has their way, Hezbollah will be a faint memory when today's news becomes ancient history.
