Only eat when you are hungary, never eat out of boredom, you tend to snack when your at a computer or watching TV, this is because of all the heat energy. Instead of rushing food, sit down & take your time, take small mouthfuls & savour every taste. Chew your food well & if you can't diet then try & substitute foods like rice for wholemeal rice, bread for wholemeal bread & pasta for wholmeal pasta, also look at the ingrediants & pick your favourite foods with less sugar. Just remember the smaller the mouthfuls & the more you think about enjoying each mouthful the fuller you will become which will make you eat less. Another diet tip is to drink a can of low sugar & low calorie fizzy drink before each meal (Just rememeber to brush your teeth after!!)

smaller portions and chew them REAL slow and until they are almost liquid in your mouth.

We tend to over eat because the taste of the food is SOOOOO yummy. Once you swallow, the fun is over. So have the fun slow. Drink a HUGE glass of crystal light with it. Take a huge gulp after each swallow of food, clear the palate to start the fun of the taste all over again! By the end, that little portion and huge glass of cyrstal light you will be full. Also, instead of soup, try just a mug of broth. You can get some bullion cubes in the coup isle. I have been drinking broth to curb my appetite and it's only like 5 calories. It works!

Also, increase your walking. City walking seems the best as there is lots to look at and places to actually go!

You might be a good candidate for the "cheat-Diet"

What makes most diets fail, for most people is the prospect of never again eating the foods they love.

If you adopt a cheat diet - you can diet, and still have the foods you love in any quantity/amount you wish.

It works like this: You adopt a reasonable diet with all of its restrictions, and adhere to it faithfully 6 days per week. You have one "cheat" day per week. On your cheat day - you can eat whatever you like, without restriction. But only on your cheat day. You adopt the cheat day (Monday - Tuesday, Saturday - whatever day you like) in advance and you stick to it - you do not change the cheat day if you have an urge or a whim on another day. Adopt one cheat-day; and it is the SAME day every week, make no exceptions.

Eliminating the foods you love, dooms a diet to failure. Restricting the foods you love to one day per week - while following a reasonably healthy diet of your choice on the other six , does not allow the temptation to break the diet to be as strong.

Do not cheat the "cheat-diet" or it will not work - you will just return to your old habits, or worse, become a binge eater.

If your cheat day is Monday, and somebody offers you that apple pie on Saturday - you can't have it-unless you take it home and put it in your refrigerator until Monday. Most people are disciplined enough to do this (at least for a while) -- and to say to yourself, I can have the pie later - is easier to bear than to say to yourself - I can never have the pie again.

Eat everything you love - in small bits. Don't ever quit eating them completely, that'll just make you feel deprived. I've always been health concious, and what I've always done is after a hard day of work (physical work I mean) or if I've just worked out on my beloved DDR, I reward myself with a little sweet.

Excersize more, eat less. The only way to loose fat is to burn more calories than you consume. But you can build muscle which looks better than fat and weighs more. So be more concerned with getting in shape verses losing weight.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

Excercise; Drink more water than usual (caffeine negates your water intake); and try cutting back on meat until you get to your desired weight. Don't give up! :o)
