what did Jesus mean by this?...‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ (NASB) Matthew 7:21-23

Thats a good scripture to show you that it isnt works that get you into Heaven. Salvation comes through Jesus only. Eph. 2:8-9 is also good as well. If we said good works was enough then why would we need Jesus, we could just tell God we did it on our own. We all was sinners and it took a perfect sacrifice to cleanse us of our sins, and that was what Jesus did. Read Romans 10:9-13 that will help you understand about Salvation. God Bless.

Believing is not enough, even the demons believe in God. James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

It should be making Jesus the Lord & Saviour over your life. Lordship - Making Him the master in every area of your life. Salvation is not by good works but by Grace. Grace - means unmerited favor, you dont earn it. It is a gift all you have to do is accept it.

Epehsians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

He meant that these people were deceived into thinking that their good deeds were the means to their salvation and that they had never turned their lives over to Christ in truth and been born again by the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 2:1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience-- 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

When a person receives the Holy Spirit they undergo a process of "sanctification" and start to live a changed life that is no longer characterized by living in sin.

1 John 2:3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says "I know him" but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

These people that Jesus was talking about were people who go to church and belong to a "religious" organization and think that they are saved as a result. It's like people who sin 6 days a week and then think that they can go to church on Sunday and "confess to a priest" and then everything is OK. Good deeds are evidence of a changed life but they don't add one bit to the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

YOU have to get your Spirit RECREATED to make it to Heaven. JESUS is the ONLY ONE WHO can Recreate it for you. Leaving the EARTH for good, with-out getting Born-Again (Spirit Recreated), seal's your Destiny for Eternity, which is Hell.
Hell is like a Prison, where Human Being's are kept untill the White Throne Judgement.
Hell wasn't made for Human Being's.
Hell wasn't made to torture Human Being's.
It was made for satan and his Angel's. GOD just keep's LOST Human Being's there untill the End.
To be Damned is just another term for not having GOD ALMIGHTY flowing through You, like the term LOST, but if you don't make a Decision to Accept JESUS as your SAVIOUR while your still on the EARTH, the Spiritual LAW's won't let you Accept HIM and get SAVED after you leave the EARTH for good.

:D ... yes, yes ... and what about his emphasis on "fasting and meditating" .. hmm ... he was alone in the desert when the three temptations occurred ... he was not a writer ... when Mathew, Mark,Luke and John quote him , he says "I speak in parables, let those who have ears to hear, hear ..." so the temptations ? .. he was alone when this occurred ... and later he told them this ... hmmm ...
He didn't like church much ... or temples ... he wandered in the hills and mountains by preference ... and when asked , always recommended fasting and meditating ...
Perhaps he was interested in teaching others to integrate their instincts , and master themselves ? ... hmm

It is necessary for all who are baptized to also be truly sorry for their sins and to repent. Only then will God forgive sins.

Failure to do so may result in your forced departure.

Don't believe everything you read. Salvation is an unnecessary guilt trip.
