Of course you can take videos on a digital camera. Look for one that can do video at 640X480 at 30fps minimum. The quality is very good to ok, but never will be as good as a dedicated video camera. Its just a handy little fun feature that the camera has. You will need a large and fast memory card for best results.
Just remember that a digital camera is best at taking photos first...then video.
And a video camera will always be best at taking video...and reasonable to not so good photos.

Some of them have that capability. The problem is that you need a fairly large memory card to get good looking video. The memory cards are not cheap either. Most cameras do not come with large memory cards so figure that into the cost of the camera. Also, the files are going to be very large so if you want to download them to your pc then you better have decent space on your hard drive. I would check the ratings of the camera online. There are some sites that have camera ratings. I have a Sony DSC-P200 that is a decent camera and does video. It costs like around 300 dollars.

You might be better off getting a digital camcorder and use it for still pictures if you want to do both. I was looking at them for this when I bought mine and found that while they do record video okay, they sadly lack key video recording features like zoom while recording. This might not seem like a big deal, but it is. You won't find a digital camera on a modest budget that will do good video. It will be ok, but not good.

Yes you sure can but you are limited to the length of your video depending on how many pixels the camera has. I own a Canon sureshot ( alpha ) and cost was relatively cheap at around $300 cdn. 25 second video.
