Christians agree that real contradictions imply real falsehood. A proposition cannot be true and not true at the same time. No worldview should be based on irrationalism. But statements that seem contradictory may not really be. Sometimes an apparent contradiction is merely an illusion of language. In other cases, ideas that seem contradictory on the surface assert a truth that we can't fully understand given the present state of our knowledge. They represent a mystery that, while not irrational, permits analysis only to a certain point. They underscore the limitations -- either temporary or permanent -- of human thought. The word that is usually used to refer to such seeming contradictions is paradox.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines paradox as "a seemingly contradictory statement that may nonetheless be true." Regardless of one's worldview, a number of basic paradoxes exist that no one has yet resolved.

What seems to be a contradiction can be a lack of understanding on your part. Hard to answer without an example of what you consider to be a contradiction. Is God himself a paradox or is it that a finite being cannot fully comprehend the infinite?. We humans have limited understanding (which we hate to admit) the fact is the family dog cannot comprehend all that we are he has no idea why you leave the house each day nor has he associated it with why his bowl is full of dogfood. We as humans have our limits and God has none we can comprehend as much as we are allowed and sometimes given. God cannot be measured completely by mans understanding but can provide spiritual wisdom to those who seek it and who have value in these things. Why did Jesus speak in parables? Why does it say many are called but few are chosen? WHat did the bible mean when it said "There is a way that seems right to a man and this way ends in death"?

The 'question asserts there are contradictions in Christianity; yet gives no examples of the alleged contradiction(s). Therefore it is hard to respond to the assertion of contradictions.

The Jews and the Christians were both given what I presently call the 'two or more witnesses' principle (Jews Deut. 10-20, the Christians Matt. 18:16, 2 Cor. 13:1). By applying that principle, one lives in, what we presently in the U.S. call freedom, because many things may be authorized; example patience and diligence; that on the surface seem contradictory. There is also the variable that man (a false god, Gen3), may not fully apply God's word. If they did, combined with 2 Tim. 3:16-17, they would realize that the scriptural old testament is the law of Moses, not Genesis-Malachi.

To begin with there are no contradictions, but more importantly, to the Christian anyway, is that our religion, like all religions, is based on faith. So, those things, which to an unbeliever may seem to not make sense, are often not enough to change the mind of a person who knows that they have to have faith.

I have been studying the Bible for over 40 years and I don't find any contradictions, neither in the Old or New Testament. But satan will show you anything if you will let him. This is way before you read your Bible you should first ask for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you thoughts and mind.

Because it does not hold contradictions.
The Christian faith is this:
We believe in a Saviour who came to this earth to die for our sins and be the bridge between Heaven and Man.
The faith is not voodoo, nor magic, nor conditional upon if I do that, then this will happen.
All that is required of us is that we admit we are sinners, repent of sin and accept the gift of the scarifice that was freely and willingly given.
All of us are sinners, but once saved a true Christian will try ( and yes we make many mistakes ) to follow the only One who is worthy of following.

The contradictions are only apparent and not real. Studying the bible reveals that the "contradictions" you may hear about as a non-Christian are not such. May God bless and keep you.

To me a Christian is one how loves Jesus, and wants what he does. and that is summed up in two command ,one love only God ,and two Love your neighbor. meaning all people. not just the people that live next to you. you may think that the Bible contradict it self ,But it doesn't . If you ask Jesus for understanding and have the faith that He will answer you . .That's what is all about . Gods will in your life. His word will tell you what you need to get through life , If you just listen . But you must have Jesus in your heart first. Do you?

There are NO contradictions in Christ's teachings. Study your Bible to find this truth for yourself. Without a specific claim of contradiction, I cannot comment other than this.

I read your long message, which contained a lot of generalities and vagueness -- but not once did I find any EXAMPLES of these "apparent contradictions."

What contradictions? If there are "so many" of them, why not give us a few examples?

Well, you have not mentioned a single example of those contradictions. It is difficult to answer your question without a practical example
