Show her.I dont know how old you are,but kids go thru many stages wanting to be many things. If this is really what you want show her.Spend lots of time practicing, make good grades, join drama in school, when she comes to see you perform it might just change her mind. Most struggling actors and singers didnt have their parents blessings at first.Good luck God bless:O)

Hi, I understand your mum wanting you to do something more practical but there is no harm in having dreams.
Living without dreams is like breathing without air ;)

If you are very young I'm afraid there may not be any convincing your mum, but don't worry.....you grow up into an individual with your own choices and chances to make your own decisions. Your mum wants the best for you.
There is something about showing you can do it rather than just speak of wanting it. Some find such dreams hard to have faith because of it being so out of reach, in thier minds.
You show your mum you can do it by doing it, so what if you have to wait a little while. You can research to see if there are any local theatres taking on apprentices or young actors/actresses. Getting into the theme will give you work experience and show your mum you are determined but again if she restricts this never mind, only a little while to wait
Good luck, and never give up on your dreams, that's where we find hope, and success of course ;)
God Bless You
xxxx

Good luck.

I know how you feel. I'm a semi pro Muay Thai figher. My mom still pretend I am a college student who work at retails.

I got first sponsor right after my first amateur fight that was against a very experienced fighter. My mom didn't even say much, she was like "oh that is nice, you can use that extra moneys"

After beating two opponent who out weight me more than 15 lbs, my mom say "you should be proud" and ignore everything.

After I lose a fight she was all over me about it. Then I lose my first semi pro fight very recently and end up with two black eyes. That didn't keep people from coming up to me and cheer for me and wanting to meet me. Eventhough my mom was at the event, she keep try to talk about how much it must hurt and tell me that may I should get out before something worse happen.

So I finally admit that there's nothing I can do to convince my mom that I'm serious about it. So only thing I can really tell you is to keep doing what you want to. DONT listen to anyone, ignore what your mom say about your goal, keep working on it and once you get there, you will prove her wrong. However expect her to pretend you're not a actress for rest of her life.

By being involved in acting at your school and at the community level. By showing some dedication to it and involving yourself in it. By getting some experience and exposure there first.

But, you also need to look at it from your Mom's point of view; not many people who want to act can, and of those, even fewer make it into movies, and even fewer ever make it a career that can support them. And the odds of becoming a star are astronomical. You need to pursue your dream, but you need to have a fallback position and plan too, in case things don't work out. The odds are against you and your mom doesn't want to see you fail.
Most people who wantto make it in movies have to support themselves while they are trying to break into movies - are you ready to spend years waiting tables for a dream which may never pan out? Are you willing to sleep with people to get noticed? (Does that make you a prostitute?)...

Have you been acting already? Get roles in your local "Little Theater" company in your area. The experience will be good and your mom can see how good you are. It will give her more confidence in your choice.
