It's almost impossible to answer that. According to www.adherents.com (and I don't know where _they_ get it from), there are 1.1 billion people whom they call 'secular / non-religious / agnostic / atheist'.
But this doesn't go into the phenomenon of the 'nominally religious' - people who, when asked what their religion is will give an answer, but who don't make religion any part of their life whatsoever. For example, you could include all of Japan as being Shinto and/or Buddhist, but Japan is by and large a religion-free zone and people mostly would consider themselves those religions only for traditional or national reasons. How many Europeans call themselves Christian but are in effect non-religious? It's tough to be sure.
I would say religion is a significant element in the lives of less than 50% of the planet.
We're a majority! Ha ha!

Be careful not to confuse religion with spirit. Many people are very connected to the spirit but see religion as an impediment to their spiritual growth.
These people are usually quite dedicated to the teachings of Jesus or the Buddha or some other enlightened master. They do this even though they do not necessarily follow the religion that claims the particular master they see as their own. Their lives reflect the truths they have learned from their teacher. Often far more than that of someone with a religious affiliation.
One who seeks because they want to create peace for themselves and others is more motivated than one who follows only to avoid the wrath of a vengeful God.
One path is the path of fear the other is the path of love.
One is the path of truth the other is not.
Love and blessings

I don't have a source for this, but I doubt there is even 1 billion non-religious persons on Earth.
Unless you specify what "non-religious" means, you can't really answer that question. Even some Atheists (who some may consider "non-religious") lead spiritual lives in unconventional ways, therefore allowing them a sort of religion.

Well there's only 6.6 billion people total on the planet and a small percentage of that is here in North America. There's no way that there's anywhere close to a billion people who are non-religious.

Most people have something in their life they treat as a religion . . . whether it be following the team or a strong hobby. When you consider all accepted religions . . . Christianity, Wicca, Hindu, Muslim, Tribal beliefs . . . I believe the number will be lower than you expect.
Even my atheist friends usually attend the Unitarian Church for fellowship and community. They do classes and lessons although it doesn't center on a religion, it is becoming an organized religion--I should add within a religion.

well, considering how many people go to all the different kinds of churches and stuff like that, then i would say that its a relativly small number, but a little higher then what u would expect.
*considering the impact on society that religon has.
i would say 1-2.5 billion out of the 5or6 that is on earth

They all are. If you take religion as a thing that brings a source of meaning to your life, then everyone has something religious that they do - be it crossing the curb correctly when walking, combing the hair or such things as that.
