i work at UPS now and they asked me about moving to the IT section and working there. but i'm not sure what programs they might deal with or what they actually do, does anyone know?

Most of the work is based on interfacing between two existing softwares--the one at UPS and the software installed at the customer. This is called API or application program interfacing.

I'm just taking a stab at this, as UPS is a huge company, and I don't know what area of IT you would be working in. But API is a big part of the picture, and knowing a little about it couldn't hurt.

UPS has their own custom software they use to track packages. I imagine they also have the usual stuff like Windows and MS Office. If they made the offer, they're most likely willing to train you on-the-job. Go for it.

And welcome to IT. It's an . . . interesting profession.
