Do not buy online. You need a mask that fits. I suggest you look for a suba diving shop - they will have more than enough for you to try, and will provide you with some very useful advice.

Everybody's face is different, so you need to try different masks to get the right fit. To determine this, just place the mask against your face (don't put the band over the back of your head). When you breathe in through your nose, you should feel a lot of resistance and the mask should stick to your face. If you can hear air seeping in round the mask skirt, it does not fit. Believe me, once you get in the water and seepage will get 100 times worse.

For the snorkel, get one with a self draining valve (on the bottom, just after the mouthpiece. This means if you get water in the snorkel you can blast it out comfortably.

Hope you have fun!

Proper fit is determined by placing the mask to your face and inhaling through your nose. If it seals to your face, it fits. Dive shops sell a good selection of them - look in the yellow pages under diving to find stores. Sporting goods stores should carry a few styles as well.

Order them from an online retailer. I recommend the US Divers brand packages for good quality low cost gear. Just bought a a $129.00 set for $50 on eBay for my Maui trip last month. My family members ended up paying that much to rent good gear for two weeks in Kihei. Sizing on the mask is usually s-m and m-l and the websites will give you the lowdown.
