Why are the people poor?

There are some great answers here. I have been asking the same question in some of my posts. Thanks to Boaz. And to CliffPotts, I checked your resources, good info. Thanks.

It was said before and I will state it again. The only reason there are poor people is because there are rich people. This planet is abundantly supplied with enough goods and services to satisfy even our population. Since some people have to much, others do not have enough. Am I the only one that has trouble sleeping at night? It astounds me to see people with the wealth they have and then turn around and blame poor people for being poor. I live in a constant state of outrage. And we Americans are one of the biggest abusers of wealth.

Live simply, so that others can simply live. Peace

Because some have money (those are the rich people) and some people don't (those would be the poor people).

Some people are highly motivated and have high paying jobs (those are the rich people) and some people are not as motivated and either are on welfare, have never worked a day in their life or have low paying jobs (those again would be the poor people).

Some people inherit money (those are the rich people) and some people never inherit money (those are the poor people).

Some people know how to save and invest money (those are the rich people). Some people spend money like it's water and there's no tomorrow (those are the poor people).

Because we are ungodly and wicked. We burned the Library of Alexandria. The person that God sent to set up an international system for insuring that the needs of the poor are met, we killed Him and blamed it on His people. We burn our surplus food and then for every million and one dollars we raise for the poor, sweet-talking administrators have to take the million first for incidental and administrative expenses before the poor gets the remaining dollar. If I listed any more you would cry. I have an affiliate membership in the United Nations and you have no idea how much trouble I have just to bring such issues to the floor, even though I pay my own expenses and travel to their functions when I am trying to do so. Sometimes they forget to advise me of specific meetings. Other times I get late invitations for critical sessions. RICH PEOPLE CAN ONLY EXIST IF THERE ARE POOR PEOPLE. THE CARE OF THE POOR IS BIG TAX FREE BUSINESS. MANY TOP EXECUTIVES LIVE HIGH OFF THE HOG. TRUST ME: I AM GOING TO START A POOR-CONSCIOUS REVOLUTION.
I will not disclose my plans yet.

I think people are poor because they don't understand that we live in The Matrix which promotes fear and conformity. Once they realize that none of this is real, they will be less afraid to take risks and think outside the box.

Also, the difference between poor people, and even middle-class people, and rich people is that the latter are concerned about whether people like them, and if they like other people, instead of simply being concerned about how to make money.

A poor person will say, I don't like that guy's way of speaking, so I cannot do business with him. A rich person will say, I don't like the way he talks, but my main objective is just to make money so I can look beyond other personal stuff.

It is a simple question that needs a simple answer. It is like asking why there are tall and short person, why there is night and day, why there is a man and a woman. Our world is a stage where each one of us must play a part and there is no doubt that it is highly impossible to make every living person equally rich. That is the very reason why there are preys and predators. The small fish are eaten by a big fish while the big fish is eaten by the bigger one and so on. We have person lucky to be born with wealthy parents and those who have to settle for a poor parents. This is the existing balance of life that nobody can alter.

Poor in what sense? According to the...well whoever has drawn up the federal "poverty line"...according to that, I have lived UNDER the poverty line ALL of my adult life. I have never cleared an annual salary of more than $16,000.

But I get by. I've always had what I needed....not always had what I wanted....but what I needed.

I didn't purposely choose to have so little money...I just made some unwise career choices along the way. Unwise, yes, but I've also been richly blessed by the experiences. Maybe I'm still unwise.

Anyway, I'm in my mid-forties. So far, according to the notices I get from Social Security about what I'd get from them if I retired today, I could maybe afford a nice box under a bridge.

Anyway, I have what I need, so I don't consider myself poor.

Many reasons-Some ppl have very low paying jobs that is just enough for them to live on. A lack of education is also another factor it is so difficult for people to get an education if you are poor because you don't have the money. I was taking with a colleague one time and she said "I don't understand why people can't go to College." There might be government grants available and you might not have to pay for tuition but what about books and other items if you go to school full-time you work part-time less money-which leads me to the next point blaming the victim-some ppl actually believe that ppl are poor because its ther own fault I dare them to trade places for a month, look at some of your answers you got. Divorce is another and one of the biggest-after divorce the income that was apart of the marriage is now gone and many ppl have to raise thier family relying on childsupport and part time jobs. For many women this is impossible that is why most of the woman on welfare roles are Divorcees.

Because business and government doesn't take care of them after they are done using them for their gain!

This country, with the economic system we have, are always going to have the unemployed. They are the buffer for big business. But they don't want to acknowledge that they are largely to blame for the poor!

To hell with love and compassion, how about some food and a place to live!!!

could it be because, the prices are to high, for 1 person to live on. The jobs are down, thanks to the immigrants, and the government is doing nothing about the billions of dollars leaving the country a month.
The Somalia, are sending their money home, the Iranians are sending their money home, the Mexicans are sending their money home. Not mention all the rest of the immg.
No to mention the Gas prices sky rocketing to make the oil companies richer. Plus the welfare going out of this world.

The gap between "have" and "have not" is increasing exponentially in the country. Who you have in your life and environment greatly affects who you are as a person. If there is nothing to motivate you, if there is nothing to dream of, shoot for, you then accept less than your personal best. You fail to grow as a human.

Maybe you were raised in hardship and did not know to motivate yourself to do better. Or you did have this excellent life, but circumstances wiped out everything you had, and now you're starting over from scratch.

Again, being "poor" is not just a circumstance of finances ... if you are not motivated to change and grow, you'll accept having "nothing" as okay.
