Most young children will eat a balanced diet over time; forcing the issue will only make him more resistant. Some suggestions: limit other choices; offer raw fruits and veggies as between-meals snacks; avoid junk foods and sodas completely; incorporate veggies into casseroles and stews.

One word of advice: don't insist that a child clean his plate. If he's full, remove the leftovers. In my job as social worker I see many, many obese children and there is no excuse, since parents control what their children eat. Guide him to healthy choices but don't let food become a battleground.

Don't worry it's a very common problem for all parents.
It has to do with the sense of taste at that age. Children at that age have a lot of sensitiveness in taste so they avoid to eat bitter or sour tastes. Vegetables have this kind of smell or taste to young children stronger than an adult. Year by year he will have more stronger taste and he will try alone new tastes. Don' t press him to eat them because he will have bad experience and he will hardly try to taste them when he will grow up. The half of the food enjoyment is the preparation try to prepare sth together or make some vedge cool cocktails or put some sugar on bitter vedge (children need sugar for energy that's why they are funs of sweet taste, it's all made from nature!)

just keep trying. sometimes it takes them awhile where they even want to try new foods. I have a 7 year old that use to be the pickest kid I have ever seen but as he got older he slowly started trying new things. Oh and sometimes you have to lie to them to get them to eat too. I have said things like, You have ate it before and you loved it. Or for example he didn't like hamburger meat and he loved sausage I would make a really small hamburger patty and tell him that it was a sausage patty and he would just eat it up. Even now I have to trick him into eating somethings but it works and now he eats pretty good. It was a lot of work of my part. Its a dirty job but someone has to do it

Make brownies with cooked, chopped spinach. They are good. Hide veggies in casseroles and stews. Take him shopping with you and have HIM choose the veggies and help you cook them. Maybe he doesn't like cooked veggies - then give him an assortment of crunchy raw ones with dip. Try anything for dip - kids love the idea.

I agree with telling him it will make him big and strong like superman(or whatever character they like) If not just let them sit at the table til it gets eaten!! Plain and simple. My son is not allowed to get up until he is finished with his dinner. And i don't serve him much to where i'm forcing to eat alot. Just don't give them a choice.

1. tell him its good for his body.
2. tell him if he eat his vege, he will get something (reward)
3. prepare only vegies. Don't let him see something meat on your fridge.
4. grind (or blend) the vegies and mix it on to something yummy food that he sure will eat. he will not notice its the vege.
5. if he doesnt eat, just make him drink nutritious milk
6. discipline, discipline, discipline

first, you demonstrate that you love veggies and eat them a lot. second, you don't make a big deal of it.
third, our pediatrician said just make sure there is at least one raw piece of fruit a day and don't sweat it otherwise.
