I snore a lot too, and my wife complains. On business trips, I cannot share a room. I have tried all the usual tricks:

- special anti-snoring strips you put on your nose
- sleeping on the side
- wife waking me up whenever I snore
- anti-snoring nasal spray

I went to my doctor, and he was not very helpful. Checked up information on different websites, and found that snoring is due to some obstruction or undue laxity in the airways. All the above treatments were recommended. If all else fails, you have to get surgery to remove any obstruction or tighten up the lax airways. I am presently contemplating this. But like the others say, perhaps some diet, reduction of weight and exercise may help, though I doubt it (I am not overweight).

Here are a couple of sites to check out, at least get some info and then maybe make an appointment with the doctor too see what he/she says if you think there is a problem that needs to be looked into. There are some simple things you can try before hand if you don't think there is a medical problem associated to his snoring...... good luck

One major cause of snoring is bad stomach. Ask him to keep his stomach all right and not to fill it too much at dinner and supper and to avoid liquors. Take him on a walk before going to bed. It will be OK in a week or so.

Another trick is to make love every night, if you love to.

Have him sleep on the porch. This won't stop him from snoring, but it will allow you to get some sleep.

Get him to lose weight... it helped my snoring tremendously. CPAP machines are a royal pain.... a typical doctor's way of treating the symptoms and not offering a cure.

i AGREE WITH SM , EXCEPT THERE IS NO CHEST DR PER SAY, ALL SNORING IS A SIGN OF AN ABSTRACTION IN THE ESOPHAGUS HAVE YOUR PRIMARY REFER HIM TO THE NEAREST SLEEP CLINIC FOR A SLEEP STUDY TO DETERMINE WHAT SEVERITY HIS SLEEP APNEA IS. THERE A LOT OF OPTION THAT THEY CAN DISCUSS WITH YOU INCLUDING SURGERY OR THE CONTINUES POSITIVE AIRWAY PRESSURE DEVICE. GOOD LUCK . ALSO IN SOME STATES YOU DON'T EVEN NEED A REFERRAL TO A CLINIC DEPENDING ON YOUR INSURANCE.
