Get real! You don't understand what insulting is all about? That being the case, I could go-off on a tirade on you and there wouldn't be a problem? Right? I doubt it.

The protectors of the civilian population are police officers (at a minimum 'cops'), Sheriffs and their Deputies, along with State and Federal Agents and Investigators. If you doubt that, imagine a scenario where you needed one, badly, and immediately, and no one else would do. Then you might be able to be a little more appreciative of the services rendered by these usually underpaid professionals.

I'll help you. Ever been car jacked? Imagine it. One minute your riding along so proud of your so fine machine and the next, someone else is cruising away with it. And you're standing on the street, (if you didn't get shot / or pistol whipped) watching him dis' your pride and joy. Who ya going to call on your cell phone? A pig? What? You want a pigs help?

Apply the same scenario for women who are raped or the victims of a violent muggings or armed robberies. "Walking away with all your money".

Police deserve better than insults and I don't doubt you know better. And they know you know better too. That's why they cut you some slack when your immaturity is displayed through insults. They know you are just a bit immature yet and not appreciative or the jobs they do.

See if you were 'on the right side of the law' as they say, or bit more mature, your wouldn't find it amusing to insult them. But pay them the repsect they deserve. Chances are, something will happen in your life where you will come around some day. Even if it is only the passage of time and you do finally grow up. And no, I am not a cop or law enforcement officer of any kind.

You are just messin with us with this question, right? Or maybe you are doing the jacking?

The same reason blacks get offended by N****R. Society is made up of verbally sensative people. While I'm not exactly sure where the whole "pig" expression came from, I can assure you that police officers are, indeed, PIGS!

If you think that makes them mad. Don't ever tell a cop that you don't like nosy cop's. That really pisses them off. I know because I have a cop stop me as I was walking. He wantes to know what i was doing and where i was going. I said I am just taking a walk and getting some air. So I started walking again and he siad I ain't done with you where are you going. I said I am going home I just live right up the road here. So he got mad and said. Do you have a problem or something. Well it hit me the wrpng way and I said YES I don't like nosy cop's NOSY!! Don't ever say that to a cop damn that made him mad. So I guess it's as bad as calling them PIG'S!!! And you heard it here first from a REAL nutcase!!"""NUT'S"""..PS ..did i win...did i win...did i win???

It maybe that secretly they are all either of the Muslim/Jewish faith and resent the term pig, due to religious implications Or it could have something to do with the fact that the term is most often used in confrontational situations and acts as a natural "Flash" point for them. Of course if you are referring to simply walking up to a police officer and asking directions, "Good morning officer pig, could you please help me find the", Naaa, on second thought, same result, hope that helps.

i always thought that although it sounds offensive, PIG stood for pretty. intelligent. guy/gal. I'm a PIG....and you?? But to an officer, they take it all personal. Just like your not suppose to say to them, "your an asshole." But you can voice your opinion and state, "I THINK your an asshole" and that is suppose to protect you under the law. It's all part of the this crazy f***ed up world we live in and of course, another link in how great "The System" is!! Hope I've enlightened you a little.

Because pigs are stereotypically regarded as stupid, fat and smelly. Police dont like fitting this description.
