Ah, yes..ignorance is bliss (atleast by reading the other posts). You learn..duh..about yourself..your beliefs..standards..values. Also how your upbringing influences..your beliefs. You learn the value others thoughts, whether they are your own or not. And to respect that person for sharing their beliefs. Why do you ask? Are you a athesist?

People that challenge others beliefs are finding a way to upset, hurt, destroy, irritate, attempt to condemn, and call this education and humanity all at the same time. Education is used to inform in an unbiased way. Humanity is the act of realizing another has feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Neither is being practiced in these instances.

Actually, I only challenge Christians about their beliefs, and I've found they have no idea how much their god hates Humanity.

The only way they can placate this god is by not questioning his rules or decisions.

It's like they all suffer from Battered Person Syndrome:
"In lay terms, this is a reference to any person who, because of constant and severe domestic violence usually involving physical abuse by a partner, becomes depressed and unable to take any independent action that would allow him or her to escape the abuse. The condition explains why abused people often do not seek assistance from others, fight their abuser, or leave the abusive situation. Sufferers have low self-esteem, and often believe that the abuse is their fault. Such persons usually refuse to press criminal charges against their abuser, and refuse all offers of help, often becoming aggressive or abusive to others who attempt to offer assistance." - Wikipedia*
