I want to get the final deal on hydration. I know that water is the best method of hydration and that alcohol is useless. I want to know what other fluids are ample for hydrating the body if drunk in enough volume. My dietitian said that non-cotrous fruit juices can help and that soft drink DOES help, although its hydration rate is only about 25% that of fresh water. She also said that milk is a good source of hydration, though nothing can replace water. If anyone can confirm or deny these or perhaps give an even more detailed view, that would be cool. I know that nothing replaces water, so don't bother saying that. I am merely looking at other things to have WITH water.

I like the new product from Gatorade called Propel...its much lighter than Gatorade but I still mix it 50/50 with water. Basically I'm using it to flavor the water. Try lemons and oranges in your cold water bottle, or cucumber slices, or adding a splash of cranberry juice. I used to be able to find some flavored seltzer water that was no sugar added....loved that stuff.

If you are paying a dietitian the bucks that they normally charge for a session, and she/he said drink your water then why are you questioning it?
Any liquid will hydrate the body, it may after awhile DE-hydrate it too. You should not drink anything in high volumes, 8-10 glasses are plenty and sometimes way to much for a days supplies.
Look at your urine... if its clear... its all good.
PS Soft drink just means it does not contain alcohol so it will hydrate the body but your kidneys will have to work harder to get rid of the toxins and dark coloring it has.
I have never heard about any 25% rate on it. hydration is hydration. If you Dehydrate than you have to hydrate maybe you mean it takes 25% more soda to hydrate than water?

One of the methods that helps you deal with the drunkness is by drinking the water from the pickeled red cabbage. You can preserve this kind of pickel in a simple manner by taking some red cabbage, water, salt and allow it to sit in a cool dry place. I hope this helps
