Applying for jobs may not be the answer for you. Perhaps you need to start your own business. What is your passion? Maybe therin is the answer. Find what your passion is and find a product or service that you can give to the world and feel good about it. You may not be
subservient enough to look like a candidate for a "job."

Be your own man and take charge of your life. Reasearch whatever it is you want to do and become the world authority about whatever it is you are researching. Let your passion drive your actions. It may scare the daylight out of your wife but being your own man is best way to go.

Yah Bless

Hey...just hang in there dude. Jobs aren't easy to find in anywhere in the world. No only in South Africa. I get the feeling that you are looking for a job in a specific Field, may be like the job you had. But when things don't go on the way you want, you got to adjust to the situation. Stop looking for that perfect job. Find some job that will make you some honest living cause you need the money right now (Even part time gig would do right?). Meanwhile, look for a job that fits you well. I m sure this is a temporary situation.

People are often stronger than they think they are. So, you not LOOSIN IT. Look at this time period as a test of life. Be Strong. You will get through this. I'm sure of it.

Good luck dude....

I hardly ever leave the Religion and Spirituality section, but somehow I meandered over here. Have you tried going to a Christian Pastor for advice about how to ask God for guidance?
My life was a total wreck too, but after I turned it over to God, He put it all back together. Please consider it if you haven't yet.
