Minimum age is usually 23 years old. Schools are usually 6-8 weeks, followed by some type of company training with an experienced driver. After the first year of good driving, you can usually find a better job. After 5 years, you can get any job they are hiring for. I have driven well over 1 million miles with no tickets, or accidents, and I have been a truck driver for 12 years. I filled out 1 online application 4 years ago, to go to work for 1 of 4 companies that were hiring, and I got 31 responses. I own my own truck now, and I make a great living. I earn considerably more than my friends that work in the white collar sector, and 2 out of 3 of them have been downsized, and became unemployed.
