They're starting to spit oil at me. Is the temperature too high?

If the oil is spattering on you, the temperature is indeed too high. Use a medium heat next time. I don't know how the dials on your stove are marked but mine go from 0 to 9. I use about 4 or 5 for frying eggs.

yep the best way to cook eggs is med to med low heat with a cover over them that way the egg white will cook from the top and the bottom you just need to check on the every so often.

Definitely! Start out with a lower temperature, you can always turn it up.

oh dear...since this was 8 minutes ago i think its too late but i woild tell you to turn the heat down..still if the kitchen didn't burn down i hope you enjoyed them....crispy were they??? lol

Pull your pants down and stick your butt on the pan. If it doesn't hurt, it's not hot enough.
