The tests that employers use for drug testing will detect amphetamines for up to 72 hours, it does depend on what amphetamines, the tests are somewhat more sensitive to the extasy group of amphetamines. They do not stay in the body for weeks, or for life no matter what some ill informed people are quoting. Employers all use a specific type of drug test, which has specific sensitivity because they have to be able to have any positives confirmed by another method on the second sample. The test used on the second sample looks for metabolites as well as the parent drug, and is definitive, i.e. if it's positive then you HAVE taken the drug. The tests have been tested in such a way as to ensure that the confirmation tests CANNOT give a false positive. The tests and methods of confirmation and results that are accepted in a court of law in both the UK and the USA are the same. If the sample is obtained and checked in the correct manner, and then tested in accreditated labs, then you will NOT beat it if you have any drug in the system.

it depends on what they are testing for. the actual amphetamines have a 4-6hrs half-life that means they're out of your system in 24-36hrs BUT their metabolites have a much longer half-life, and if they're tested for, you could test positive for many weeks/months later without even touching the drug more than that one time
