Make sure the basket is lined with soft material or a cushion; also a blanket they can tunnel under and "hide" is nice. If the kitten is v. young a hotwater bottle might be cosy. You may have to shut the door on the room, if kitty is lonely s/he will come looking for you. They say that if you want to find the most comfortable spot in the house, look for the cat!

give it time, when we first got our boys we got them a cat bed and it was a month or more before either of them used it. cats will change their favorite sleeping spots from time to time they think that it's parasite control. if your kitten is into catnip put some in there and make sure there is a comfy blanket or something in the basket

use cat-nip in the basket.
cat-nip is a natural herb and is sold as a dry product at most pet supply stores.(or fresh at most gardening suppliers)
it creates a sense of euphoria in cats - they love it.Mine even eats it but mostly they roll in it.
you state that it is a kitten which means it might feel insecure with it's environment etc.Could also be missing "mom" and would therefore seek your body heat.
time and patience and never punish the kitten. As they grow older
they become more independent.
Good luck

You can put a small rubber mouse or a thread ball or plastic ball inside the basket so it would be attracted to play inside and later realize that it so nice to lie inside after a whole tiring day of playing with its toys. Its fun to watch your kitty jump in and out of the basket while playing. Good Luck!

Hee heee... well I don't think you can ever force your will on a kitten. They will do what they like. kittens and cats find their own favorite places to cuddle up and sleep. They especially like warm dry places. So maybe you should just let the kitten find its own sleeping place.

I got a little cat bed for my kitten and she avoided it for weeks. Eventually, she just realized that it was comfy and started sleeping in it on her own. Your kitten will probably come around.

Hi, You may want to fill it with a small blanket, and add a little sardine oil to the basket ... Believe me, the smell will attack the cat and he will like to be around it ...
Good luck

You cant make them sleep in a certain spot! It has got to be their idea, or you can forget it! Besides, cats change where they want to sleep practically every other day!
