There are many good and clean guesthouses in Siem Reap. In contrast to Phnom Penh it's a relatively quiet and small place. I remember all guesthouses being a bit expensive, compared to other places.

The guesthouse I stayed at didn't arrange tours and I wouldn't know which ones do. What I can tell you is that there are roughly two main guesthouse areas.
- The one in the South, East from the river is near a big market, shops and banks and therefore. The bad side of it is that it's crowded and noisy.
- The other is in the North, West of the river. This is where I stayed. It's close to the road which takes you to the temples of Angkor Wat. There aren't many shops around, but at night it's very quiet, which guarantees you a good sleep. Trust me, you'll need that for visiting the temples ;-)

Best is to get a pushbike. Getting around that way nothing is far from your guesthouse. Most guesthouses have pushbikes which you can borrow for free or hire for a few Riels.

Although you're not asking for it, I would recommend you to visit the Children's Hospital which is pretty much on the way to the temples. I believe the founder is from Switzerland. If he's still giving his cello concerts, make sure you don't miss it. It's an experience you will never forget. You can also donate blood for the sick children, if you like.

Hope you have lots of fun!
