In France is 16. The legal drinking age is not enforced when drinking in private. Purchase age is also rarely enforced. In bars, under 16s have to be accompanied by a responsible adult to purchase alcoholic drinks.

international drinking age is 16 (btw when you are flying you are in international airspace and the drinking age is 16, even if you are flying in the continental united states), however, most countries outside of the u.s. don't think it's such a big deal to drink young, just not in large quantities. my neighbor (who is a german national) lets her son drink radler's (beer and lemonade) as well as letting him pop open his own beers, he's 14 now, but he's been getting radler's at home since he was 7.
