Any baptized male Catholic can be elected Pope. Although the chances of a non-cardinal being elected is very small.
There is a legend of a woman pope. Look up Pope Joan.
With love in Christ.

Pope Joan dressed as a man and was elected pope under false pretenses. After the discovery that she was a woman, the cardinals decided to physically check the genitals of all future prospective popes. The ceremony involved the candidate sitting on a chair with a hole in the seat. The chair was then lifted over the cardinals who would have a good grope. I'm not sure if it still goes on though.

Yes. Traditionally the Pope has been a man...but there's nothing set in stone that says a woman can't be Pope.
In this day and age, I guess we'd call her Pope Penelope...or whatever. We seem to be getting away from masculine and feminine titles...we usually call male AND females actors (not actress) or waiters (not waitresses), etc.

don't have faith so. First, you would be a clergyman. Blame it on the finished male BS difficulty such is? I do have faith that identify is precisely male, no longer female. Sorry, yet that on my own is like one important strike against you. unsure precisely, yet I do have faith you would be a Arch-bishop; who're clergymen and extra some. this is kinda a electoral device. Theirs a council of Arch-bishops? who % the pope, from fellow Arch-bishops?, i think of. unsure, yet I do bear in mind the finished burning regardless of in Rome. this is a few seen clue to the exterior to teach this and basically this. If a clean pope has been declared or no longer. including: Sorry for being incorrect interior the employer that this is cardinals that make certain, sorry.

On PBS television station not long ago was a story about a woman who was pope way back. It seems everyone thought she was a man....perhaps when she died is when they discovered the truth. She is carved in stone along with the other past popes.

WOW - even in this day and age we are feared - no man in power wants to see a woman unsurp him.
Can you imagine the Catholic Church of men allowing this to happen?
I'm all for letting my husband wear the pants in the family, even though he thinks he does, he doesnt, but this makes him happy and because I love him I let him.
I dont think the Catholic Church, whose priests are not married, can understand this, even if they do they will never let a woman be the head of the Catholic Church and why, because they can.
Oh God, I hope you are a woman .
The name - "our dear lady The Pope", nothing more, nothing less.
Dream on girls.

religion can be very sexist i wanted to be a woman pope but then i remembered i was anglican not catholic. It is discrimination, in my country the prime minister has always been a male and a female would make things so much better. A woman pope should happen, its descrimination against females and i wonder why females cant be preists also who says gods male.

Popette. No, it won't happen again. There will be 1 more Pope after this one now. He is going to defect the catholic faith, and denounce it.
It is in the old testament. Read it.

One already has, her name was Pope Joan, and she was addressed as "Your Holiness" like any other Pope. Do your research before posting a question.
