LEV 18:22 "'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.. This quote is often used to point out why same sex is wrong but yet
Exodus 31:15 "Whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."
is hardly used to point out the "sin" of working on the sabbath.
So why do SOME feel that it is ok to pick and choose what they think is the right from the bible?
Why is that?

religion is easily manipulated to fit the means necessary for one group to dominate and control a larger group into submission.

even if you broke down government AND all religions. ppl would very quickly establish a "leader" and some sort of rough structure of "government".

ppl organize themselves for survival. firstly physical survival...then later...religious. early man was the same way. government first, fantasy religious and/or ritualistic behavior second.

as for "not working on the sabbath" this falls under the new evolution of the church. things are VASTLY different from two thousand years ago, and in two thousand years things will be vastly different than now.

When Jesus was here- he actually worked [miracles] on the Sabbath. The Sabbath has not been done away, however. If your lively hood is at stake- I'm sure God won't call it a sin if you worked on the Sabbath out of necessity.

So while he was here- he did remove several unnecessary burdens. However, as far as lesbianism and being gay- that still stands:

1Co 6:9 Don't you know that evil people won't have a share in the blessings of God's kingdom? Don't fool yourselves! No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a pervert or behaves like a homosexual
1Co 6:10 will share in God's kingdom. Neither will any thief or greedy person or drunkard or anyone who curses and cheats other

I have less of a problem with Christians as a whole than with the fundamentalists who actually believe that Genesis - Deuteronomy (the pentateuch) were directly revealed to Moses from God and are literally the word of God. These people are complete and utter hypocrites.

In addition to the passages you quoted what about:

Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of wool and linen together. (Deuteronomy 22:11 - wool and linen - SIN!)

If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying, certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
(Deuteronomy 13:12-15 - so, if you come across someone who believes something different from you - KILL them, but only if you're really sure. Massacre the unbelievers - it's not just the Qu'ran you know).

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
(Exodus 20:4 - the 2nd commandment - often forgotten - Mona Lisa, Michelangelo's David, the Sistine Chapel - SIN SIN SIN!)

The Bible is simply ridiculous as a guide on how to live your life... and although the fundamentalists are the worst, all Christians pick and choose verses from the Bible (if they've actually bothered to read it).

When I feel down and out and I pray to God for help, He answers me through the Bible and sometimes through other people. I talk to him when I am working, I talk to him when I am walking, I talk to Him when I am sitting, I just talk to Him whether it's on the Sabbath or on Tuesday. He really wants to hear from you and help you more than yu can ever imagine. Yu just have to believe. It works for me.

first Jesus said dont let anybody judge you about a sabbath but sexual sin is very destestable to the Lord and draws more andvance forms of his judgment! he planed it man and women so the world would never end and homosexuality is not in line with his pattern of creation! it is an aberant manifestion of the Jezibel spirit! not of Gods Holy spirit!

If you read the new testament Jesus explains more of what he meant when he made that statement about the sabbath day but he didm't change much of what he said about homosexuals.

The bible can't be followed to a tee, especially in modern day America. Just living in a capitalistic society violates at least one of the commandments.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. (Exodus 20:17)

I think that in most cases it is not fair to say what most people do. Like most other situations, some do and some don't.
