I have it. adhd gave me problems is school. although I was a pretty smart kid, I couldnt preform in school. I would ace all my tests but still wound up with f's because I couldnt sit still long enough to complete any assignments.
After school I entered the work force and didnt really need an attention span as long as my job required a lot of hard work. well, now Im 23 and via a long story have attained a job processing animal protien. its not labor intensive, but I need to concentrate a lot. I also have a daughter now and I dont want to wind up forgeting her on the roof of the car or anything. I wasnt in school but Im now willing to try medication. any advice?

Instead of medication, I would recommend to go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of the body and mind is simply amazing - own experience. :-)

Of course there is no guarantee, but a fair chance to get rid of your ADHD symptoms. It's really worth a try!

At present, the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing about 200 Dollars. Good luck!f

You're doing a great job so far. Maybe you could get on meds (ritalin) but lots of exercise and taking B vitamins seems to help me too.

I always would pause, stand still, and count to ten after parking the car on purpose, checking to make sure I had the diaper bag (or later, the bag with toys and treats in it), my purse, and of course, the baby!

I also taught my daughter to keep up with me instead of making it a situation where I was looking to keep track of her. She was like one of those little ducklings following the mama. This worked exceptionally well as I never lost her at all.

Good luck to you!

Neil, I am a 42-year-old woman with ADHD. I was diagnosed 11 years ago when both of my boys were diagnosed with it. As I was filling out the paperwork, I realized I had those same traits. Medication is only one way to deal with adult ADHD. Behavior modification is another way to help. I have found ADHD responsible for the way I organize (or don't) things, how I have trouble arriving somewhere on time, how flustered I get while trying to explain something to someone over the phone, etc. Once you realize how ADHD affects you, you can find ways to help make it easier on yourself. Most of all, accept the fact you have ADHD, and don't be afraid or ashamed to educate people about it, and about ways you have found to cope with problems. And enlist the help of others. My husband is a tremendous help to me - he will get me back on track in a conversation or task when I wander off, etc. Do a web search for adult ADHD resources in your area. There are support groups for adults with ADHD. There are also web sites that offer help: http://www.livingwithadd.com/; http://www.adhd-made-simple.com/Adult_Adhd.html; and http://www.adultadd.com/index.jsp, among others. There are also on-line support groups you can find through Yahoo groups, etc. I like what Nora said about counting to 10 and making sure you have everything, including the baby. Also, as your child (children) is growing up, remember to watch for signs of either hyperactivity or distractabilty in him or her, as it is widely believed that ADHD is hereditary. Good luck.

The Best thing to do is to seek help from a professional Doctor before someone gets hurt. You'll be better then.
