All children are different, and the terrible twos thing is arbitrary in any case. It refers to the point where children cease to be passive babies and start questioning everything and running amok! It can go on until they're eighteen, by the way!!!

Not all kids get the "terrible two's" at two, my son got it at 15 months & shows no signs of stopping now and he's 3.
All you can do is keep to the limits you set & never give in, explain why things are wrong or naughty & expect to repeat yourself lol
The naughty step works wonders & the kicking screaming throw yourself on the floor tantrums stop very quickly if you look at the child and say "tell me when you're finished" then pretend to read a magazine, book even a blank bit of paper. Once the kid realises that you don't give him any attention when he does this he will soon stop, then you can do the cuddle and kiss and carry on will a well-behaved child (for 5 minutes anyway lol)

My friends daughter was lovely all throughout her twos, and litterally as soon as she hit three, she started having a tantrums and screaming and crying and being naughty, i guess it has to happen to all children at some point, but they worked through it by using the 'naughty step' whenever she had a tantrum and rewarding her for good behaviour by using a behaviour chart, which she enjoyed. Now she is the most lovely child again, and will be four on monday.

Whenever it hits its terrible, just a real inquisitive time, I believe my daughter carried it all the way to 6 when she started school. On the first visit to parent teachers night, the teacher said to me and my husband "What a beautiful child, I wish I had more in my class just like her, she is such a gem!" We looked at each other and back at her and both replied at the same time "Raquel?"... So hold on, it will get better, when your husband comes in, do what I did, be dressed ready to go out, anywhere, have her in your arms and say "here, she's yours, I'm out of here" it helped many a day. good luck

you just have to be patient and try not to put her in the cupboard..
all kids are different but one of my boys terrible twos started at one and a half and didnt end until after 4, but his brother was adorable as a toddler and still is, most of my friends have little girls and from what i have seen over the years i think girls are that bit worse.. just try to give her the attention she needs and make sure you have time for yourself to chill because if you stress out so will she, good luck, you will need it haha xx

my daughter has the terrible one and a half's. i have learned that when she goes into a temper tantrum it won't stop until she is ready. so to save my sanity i hum a song. it seems to calm her down a bit and works wonders for my frayed nerves. it also gives both of us a kind of time out from the situation that is getting us both so worked up and gets us concentrating on something else. good luck to you!!!!

Terrible two's , horrible three's and I'm fixin to kill you four's. My youngest is 4 and my oldest is 16. 3 is worst than two because they are getting more intelligent and they are able to talk better, they are more curious. At five it gets better.

all two's are terrible to some degree. You just find threes more terrible because her ways are hard for you to tolerate now.

same here.. I have a naughy step and it really works. she is not allowed from the step until she stops crying and realises what she has done is wrong. If out and about - i take her to the nearest tiolet or put her in the car!! Guarenteed to work.
It does pull at your heart strings but be strong and dont let her win. she will NEVER forget it otherwise.
