I got this info from Dear Abby:

The Hargitt House Foundation has helped many children and their parents overcome the problem of bed-wetting. For more information about its program, write: The Hargitt House Foundation, P.O. Box 130342, The Woodlands, TX 77393

I used to bedwet until I was 9 years old. My parents didn't know what the problem was. I was afraid of the dark, so I used to wet in my bed. I was too embarrased to tell my parents, cause my mom always said "Don't be a sissy, be a big boy",.

My parents bought a night light, one in my room, one in the hallway and one in the bathroom, my bedwetting stopped.

Don't let him have anything to drink atleast an hour before bedtime. Childeren have small bladders so they can go to the bathroom easily. It is just a phase. Soon your son will stop bedwetting. Many childeren go through this phase.

My brother had this problem and the only thing that worked was my mother would set the alarm clock in the middle of the night, pull him out of bed and take him to the bathroom. She did this twice a night for about 2 weeks and he was no longer bed wetting. There bodies have to be trained. And as for as beating him. He has no control over this. Bad suggestion, I do not believe in beating children.

My sister wet the bed in till she was 12 and now she is 31 and growing up it was frustrating trying to figure out why and we found out that it was because her bladder was not fully developed it was a small bladder and she grew out of it so it could be a medical problem check with your family doctor or your pediatrician. But try not giving him anything to drink before bed or have him go to the bathroom before he goes to sleep a few times or a pull up they have for older kids. well hope this helps you out good luck.

Take him to the Dr it is not laziness or rebellion that is causing this. please do not shame him for something he may not be able to control. Believe me....at 8 years of age he is NOT doing this on purpose and I'm sure it is causing him alot of emotional pain and anxiety because he is wetting the bed.
when I got custody of my 5 yr grandson he'd been a bed wetter (he wet the bed when his mother had custody). I took him to the Dr and the Dr put him on imiprimine and within a couple of months he stopped.

~~Good Luck

The first thing i'd do is take him to the dr. sometimes bed wetting can be due to a bladder infection, or other minor, easily treatable problem.

Make sure you set up schedules which will help him not drink too much before going to bed, but drinking just enough to stay hydrated.

You need to go to your house docter for that - because that can have all sorts of medical and psychological reasons.

Do not try to solve things like this yourself unless you are a medical docter yourself.
