In todays world it seems everybody wants to avoid war. War is going to happen people and everytime somebody gets involved in a war people start blaming the bigger power. Like vietnam for instance did you not see what we were trying to do yet we eventually had to pull out because of whiners and boo hoo ers
its sickning when are people going to back up the rights to go to war when war is needed instead of boo hooing. I think israel has the right to go to war with a country who continues its ties with terrorists who dont stop an example is continueing stealing of people in excahnce for prisners. It gets old.

People are afraid to die...simple as that. Would you want to die...obviously no. Many people also think that diplomacy and talk is a better alternative to fighting...but these same people cant seem to understand that nobody thinks the same way and there will always be people who think otherwise.

The Lebanese people support these Hezbollah guys because they (and a significant percentage of the Muslim world) think that these guys are the good guys (they claim to be fighting for the Palestinians and the security of Lebanon). Rightly or wrongly they couldnt care less about the deaths of Israeli civilians and they are more fixated on Muslim deaths...whether they be innocent Palestinian/Lebanese civilians or they are really with the Hezbollah goons.

But while I dont see the Israeli gov't and military as angels, I will always say this...those Hezbollah guys must die...they aint solving the problem...they are making it worse both for the Palestinian cause and the future of Lebanon.

To Chi M...actions speak louder than you...if you really think that Hezbollah is the future of Lebanon, then go join your Hezbollah buddies then and fight.

To Richard R...did you stop to consider that a significant number of those 5000 or so prisoners have at one point conspired or attempted to commit terrorist acts in Israel. Those two soldiers were not even trying to get in Lebanon and Hezbollah just went inside Israel, took the two men and killed 5 of their comrades...

Lebanon is unable to control the Hezbollah factions in their own country the Christian Lebanesse and the Muslim Lebanesse fought a 20 year civil war and spent years rebuilding the country and have a extreemly fragile peace at this time, Isreal is not helping the situation any by attacking basic Lebanese infrastructure and bombing innocent civilians, the person who commented a few above me said that he hopes they kill all these "cowards" I suppose since you are so bold here with your anonymity, you feel that you arent a coward, but if you have the courage to look a mother in the eye after her five year old daughter got blown into fifty pieces and say well too bad for her she was in the way of these dern' hezbollah terrorists then God help you. Hezbollah was formed not as a terrorist group but as a liberation force during Isreal's 18 year occupation of southern Lebanon, would we be considered terroist, if Canada occupied Michigan and the Mich. Militia fought back against them to liberate their land? And for that matter define a terrorist to me, if they have bigger weapons are they not terrorists, the Isrealis are invading another country something we fought a war with Iraq over because we as Americans feel that it is injust to do, and the Hezbollah are defending their land like they have the right to do. I am not standing with Hezbollah they are bringing alot of grief on their people but I cant stand with a country (Isreal) that is commiting a Genocide on a group of people simply because the feel threatened by them, Israel holds over 500 lebanesse with out charges, so what is the big deal if Hezbollah holds two with out charge?

It's easy to blame Israel and the US, considering how much more accurate our missiles are. Yet, there's not a peep about the number of Israeli civilians killed by directionless Hezbollah missile's hitting buildings in Israel. It's easy for some people to blame Syria/Iran for Hezbollah being in Lebanon. The Lebanese gov/people could kick them out, make some attempt to or at least mention to the world community of their desire to. Doing nothing only shows agreement. The Kurds in northern Iraq opposed Saddam's dictatorship. If a group in Idaho began attacking Canada, would the US make excuses or would they squash it? Most US Citizens hold ourselves to a certain standard, but some cannot hold people of other countries to the same, as if foreigners aren't capable of such standards. It's absurd, most people can reason, most people know right from wrong. In the US, doing/allowing something you know is "wrong" may result in a punishment. Doing/Allowing "wrong" things in a foreign(especially 3rd world)country, is also somehow the fault of the US. And by no means could the people living in that foreign country have any responsibility. Besides, if we didn't support Israel, they wouldn't be so upset, right? We can support anyone we choose. The US is one of the youngest countries, we support because we're able & willing, not because we have to. We have our own system/beliefs that we consider an improvment from older systems. And our system is proven successful in other countries, regardless, we'll still help countries choosing another system, however, we have a problem when that system treats men & women unequal, allows large numbers of its' people to starve, supports terrorist orgs within its' borders & is unsafe for US citizens to visit. The US is willing to work with other countries, but there's certain terms and we don't have to bend on any of them. If there is an agreement(resolution), we expect it to be honored, if you don't follow it or break it, why should we waste time negotiating another agreement?
Any kid that was smacked(controlled use of force) by their parental units, for doing something they knew was wrong, learned their lesson. Grounding or refusing allowence(sanctions), to a lessor extent in my opinion, might also work. A stern talking to(resolution) most likely resulted in a repeat offense.
There's nothing wrong with smacking someone, especially after they've broken an agreement.

Lebannon does not support Terrorism, they have just come out of a 20 year civil war you moron, the infra-structure Israel so carelessly destroyed has been built by the EU to try and re-establish the country. Hizbollah have control of the south because the government, as it was, couldnt physically do anythign about it.

People blame the 'bigger power', ie Israel, because her response has been collective punishment. Attack Hizbollah rockets, yes, but why the Christian North? Why the Red Cross, which is a direct breach of international law?
Israel should adher to the rules of war, attack the terrorists by all means but not Beirut, not Refugee Columns

People who disagree with Israel are most likely un-informed, believe the media without question, and who elect presidents who knowingly allow genocide to happen in Africa rather than try to stop it as my Grandfathers generation did with Hitler.

For all those who don't know who the president was who let this travesty happen, don't know cause the Media didn't tell them. That he made America look like a bunch of toothless, spineless cowards that will run at the first sign of trouble. We don't need these kind of leaders but we are choosing them because we are becoming weak uneducated jellyfish.

This whole prisoner swap is like a terrorist kidnaps an important American and say we will give them back if you give us Charles Manson. Same stupid thing.

War is a sad thing, body parts laying around troubles me, however what is more troubling is how whiners tie the militaries hands behind it back. Simple statement, war IS bad, but when you have to do it (unfortunatly we all don't just get along) go in there kick the snot out of them and go home. This tip toe version of war is slow and drawn out and leads to more death and confusion. If mexico or canada launched a single missle into the US I would expect us to kick them into the stone age. Isreal has taken enough abuse and has earned the right to do something about it. BTW have you noticed how many conflicts in the world involve people of the muslim faith, and now muslims in the US are shooting jewish people here. I don't know about these people. for the guy before me If the government and EU isn't going to do anything to stop them maybe they could use a wakeup, beside dope this group hezboloah is hiding in beruit and in those columns of refugies, if those people don't want to get it the way they should push the militants out of the column, unless they are trying to hide them, in which case they are helping them and part of them.

You are so right! You have said it better than anybody that i have heard. This is a war! Lebanon invited the hezbollah cowards in with them,so let them assume the consequence of sideing with these terroists scum.I cannot belive we are sending food and medical supplies to the cowards.I hope Israel will quit worrying about what the rest of the world thinks and go ahead and whipe these hezbollah cowards off the face of the earth.

Israel is not at war with a country - it's at war with Hezbollah.

The outrage all around the world is not because of this, but because Israel does not seem to care how many innocent people are killed or how much destruction is caused to a struggling country as it fights the terrorists.
