I don't think there is a way. The only way is if the Dr states that it is medically necessary to save your life and you have other health issues being caused by your obesity.

Have your Dr. write a detailed letter about how the surgery will benefit your health. If you want the surgery for cosmetic reasons medicaid will not cover it. But if having the surgery will cure or reduce other health issues it should be covered. Also if you get denied, just keep on trying and appeal their decision. It can often take up to three tries before they agree to pay.

Gastric Bypass Surgery/gastrectomy/lapband (all types of weight loss and bariatric surgery) is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your lobesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her repeat gastric bypass surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

sorry, you can't. although gastric bypass is a medical procedure you may need, they will say you decided to do it and that you could just work out to loose weight, they won't pay for it. they won't even pay for braces why do you think they are going to pay for that?

It's not something you need medically. They are not going to pay for it. Get a job that provides insurance, and you will have better luck.
