Sounds like she's probably your best friend and you don't realize it yet. Since she's a girl you may not readily recognize that the connection you two may have, although platonic in nature, is closer than just friendship. I would say its a "sibling thing", but who gets jealous when someone hits on their sister. I've had two best friends in my life, one male and one female. There were times when my female bestfriend spent too much time with her boyfriend or even another chick and I was very jealous. Same thing with the guy. I was jealous when he would flirt with chicks, but not because I wanted him to flirt with me. I probably would have been grossed out if he had back then. Was I attracted to him, sure! But my mind couldn't go there. At the time I couldn't see him as anything more than a bestfriend.

But lets twist it up a bit. Although people of the opposite sex can be best friends just like everyone else, more than likely there is some attraction there. Of course! Men are attracted to women and vice versa. The very thing you come to like and love about a best friend of the opposite sex could very well be the same things you look for and love in a mate. Watch out Max! You never know what could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if she felt the same way. Good luck!

P.S. I married my male best friend. We were married 6 years and had no "best friends" outside of the marriage for a long time. It was great. People would mistake us for siblings alot. But the minute someone got a bestfriend elsewhere, our marriage failed. It was like the marriage ended because the friendship ended. So be careful.

You have a deeper feeling for the girl. You would perfer others not to flirt/hit upon the girl. Get your heart and head on the same page or those feelings of jealousy will become more evident to others. Possibly to your girlfriend as well, if not already.

Perhaps, you are upset that guys are mistreating your friend... the other thing could be that you are subconsciously into her and even though you are just friends, there is a part of you that you don't want her seeing anyone else. The other thing could be that you are worried that if she starts dating someone else that you will lose your friendship with her ...and you don't want to lose her attention..even though you are just friends.

Maybe you really do like her deep down, or maybe you just feel the need to 'protect' her so to speak. Sometimes just because you have a significant other doesn't mean you won't develop crushes along the way ;)

Thats is nothing and is normal. You just have to tell yourself that you enjoy to see her laught, the next time people flirt with her and make her happy you will feel happy too.

i used to get that way with my friends.... maybe you do like her you are just in denial because you have a girl? or maybe you are just really good friends with her and always get the attention and are not used to them having more than you.

You might see her as a sister and therefore are protective in a way.
