Religions have been based all along according to the individual's understanding of good and evil. I do not think religion is responsible for the hate, the killing, the wars, etc...Each individual has the freedom of choice as far as understanding is concerned. There might be outside influences, traditions, etc, but basically religion unite people in congregations not with the purpose of killing each other but helping lone another on the path of right which is the path of light towards realization of the divine purpose, no matter which religion you belong to. Killing another human being is wrong. Destroying nature is wrong, mistreating animals is wrong, And when we do wrong, we certainly know it! So we cannot put the blame on religion because it is a personnal responsibility.

I have to totally agree with salientsamurai

Remember when god lived in the heavens which were the clouds. And then we learned to fly and then Oh, would you believe it, god now lives in space and guess what, now its in another galaxy and so on.

Religion is also a form of control. How many people die each day in war and Jihad not because they want to, but because they think they should? How many wars have been started for something other than religion? Not many, its the no1 cause of conflict on this earth.

How many soldiers are happy to die because they think things can only get better? The fact is we would have less war on this earth if we didnt have religion.

I like to think i do the right thing without a so called god. The problem is everyon thinks that their god is the one true god... So which one is the real one? Assuming there is one. Religion was formed at a time when the earth was flat and their country was the only one.

What annoys me most is when you see these nuts saying "I thank god for helping my child get better" Thank god!!!! What about the doctors with their science and hard work? What did they do? Play chess while god did his magic. BOLLOCKS!!!!

No, human beings have always invented religious icons. It's a way of trying to reconcile our fragile mortality and smallness with the immensity of the world and the universe beyond. Unfortunately, people kidnap religion, most of which have "Thou shalt not kill" type commandments as a fundamental premise. The other problem is every religion thinks it has the right answer, that its followers are "God's chosen people" and everybody else is somehow not following the true faith. That's why I'm an atheist. I really do believe that all men (and women) should be equal.

Religion was mankinds first Science. When he needed an explanation for something, and the answer wasnt immeadiatly observable, he had to have an answer so what about this all powerful being that can handle everything i dont understand. This is the biggest reason most people think Science and religion are at odd with each other, Science is slowly explaining away all the mystery that religion once claimed domain over.

Hi Police Girl,

What an interesting question. I believe that religion is a divine law that is not to be compared by human law. The question is, why do we have many religions? I believe there is only one that humans kept forgetting and always defied like they defy any law. Religions are not separate, but beads in a rosary. So in the reality they are one. Humans continuously fought it and replaced it with their own laws which resulted in the agony that the whole world is suffering from at the moment. What scares me most is that there will be no more divine religions coming. They have been concluded and we have to protect them and replace man made religions with them if we want to have equality and peace. One religion enforces equality, peace mercy and compassion.

Have a peaceful good day.

No, the process of self realisation or pure religious practise, has been existing for thousands of years, there is a vast body of knowledge that explains the difference between, gross material energy, subtle material energy and superior spiritual energy.

Also the source of that energy, what actions need to be performed to revive the original spiritual body, that is temporarily covered by gross and subtle material energy.

Different methods of yoga or connection to the spiritual platform. Intricate knowledge of the absolute. How to attain the Supreme. Confidential Spiritual knowledge. The opulance of the absolute. The universal form. Devotional service. Nature, the enjoyer & consciousness. The modes of material nature. The divine and demoniac nature's. The yoga of the supreme person. The divisions of faith. The perfection of renunciation.

To name but a few, these are componant parts of the preliminary study for any aspiring transcendentalist. To clearly understand the answer to your question, acquire one copy of the "Bhagavad Gita As It Is" translated from Sanskrit into English, by HDG A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, read the 16th chapter entitled "The Divine and Demoniac Natures", it will provide you with full clarification as to the nature of modern day, so called religionists, who continually use the vehicle of religion for unsavoury political purpose and henious criminal activity on a global scale.

A knife can be used as a scapel to save lives or it can be used as a weapon to murder, these corrupt modern day leaders have chosen the latter.

This question is a good one, but it cannot be answered very quickly so here goes (please bear with me)

I happen to believe the bible, If you believe in it, you will notice in the beginning in Genesis (when God created Man) there was no religion per say, Man had a relationship with God as a son has with a father, after Adam & Eve sinned (because of the Devil) then they (man & woman) were imperfect and no longer were worthy to have the same relationship with God -Because they were unclean.
As time went on God gave those who were good people (though imperfect) like rightous Abel directions on how he wanted to be worshiped, many centuries later Jesus came on the scene, sacrifices were done away with, and worship (or the true religion) was established by him, and passed on to his disciples.

But as you see today there are many different religions on the earth, many of which cause wars, or at the very least support wars.
Ask yourself, who would want to get people to stop serving God correctly?
Also ask yourself who was it way back in the begining that selfishly wanted to be worshiped instead of God, and caused Adam and Eve to sin?

This person is identified in 2 Corinthians 4:4 : as "the God of this system of things" who has "blinded the minds of unbelievers".

This cause for all of the confusion we see is none other than Satan the Devil himself.

And the results of many of the problems we see are caused by "False Religion".

Jesus would never go to war, he would never kill his fellowman, he would never have the attitude we see diplayed by many so-called religious people, he even told Pontious Pilate before he died: "My kingdom is no part of this world"

If you have your own Bible please read what Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-20 from this you will see that the majority of the worlds religions are not following Christ's example.

You mean segregating people into groups? Religion, just like knowledge, is an abstract object that does nothing to anyone. The interpretation of religion principles are rife with history and personal experiences. Religion, like knowledge, doesn't fight, doesn't hate, doesn't argue, doesn't love, doesn't nurture. We have ourselves to blame for all that. Even if your religion, for example, if you are a follower of the Ku Klux Klan... the belief is nothing without action.

I think that a lot of people use the religion and the way it is written to try and justify their actions. I know a few true Muslims and they are appalled at the way their religion is being used as an excuse to murder and maim innocent people. The true Muslim faith would never allow another human being to be harmed in such a way and it is only being perverted by those who wish to destroy the free world.

It did not start out that way. religion was made up to expalin what could not be explained during the early periods of mankind; sadly it grew into a large idea which has gotten out of control; like a wild fire that needs to be put out. But sadly people do not see that and refuse to stop it. Once the fire burns them will they realized that religion was wrong, but by that time it is too late
