I have the saaame problem, but with baby green cheek conures! Birds will automatically fly to the highest point they plan to land and if they're going to land on you, your face is one of their main targets ^.^. The way I work around this problem is that before the bird tries to land on my face, I lower my face by suddenly staring at my feet. The bird is forced to land on my head. It takes some practice, but after a while the bird will learn to land someplace besides your nose. If he lands on your face, don't react. Don't cheer, yell or yelp in annoyance. When he lands on your head, praise him :-) Birds love people who dance around. It's called 'Drama Reward'. If you can convince your budgie that your hair (or hat) and not your face is the best spot to be, then you should be okay. If all else fails, perhaps you could train him to land on a baseball cap. That long ledge on the front of the cap is a perfect landing zone for a budgie!
Good luck to you!

birds like to land in a high area it makes them feel secure you could crouch when it gets close so it can land on top of your head instead of your face or if it goes for the face pretend you are going to bite it or growl (any threatening noise) that will remind the little bird that its not safe to land there if you see its going for your face and you have enough time to react offer it your hand instead and then bring your nose/face to the bird (since it has a thing for noses) my friend had a budgie that really loved to give noseys (kises on the nose) maybe that is what your little buddie is trying to do then when he lands in an area you prefer make soothing sounds caress and let the bird it did a good job offer it a treat obviously never strike or swing at the bird since its bones are very fragile and could be accidently injured good luck and hope the face scratches heal quickly (also to help until the bird gets the idea try taking a soft nail file to the tips of the talons so they are dulled and not as painfull if the bird does forget where to land)

I don't believe in plucking hitting or any type of pain given to any animal for teaching or learning purposes, it just brings on a fear and a lack of trust. As he approaches you put up your finger keep it close to your nose, and try gently to not land him land on your face. Animals look in your eyes this is the way they communicate with people. Just like a stray dog do not ever come eye to eye with them if they see fear they realize they have the upper hand and will attack(not always) but animals only know the language we teach. So offer your finger and then give praise or a treat when he lands on your hand or finger. If he is in such demand to land on your face let him then grasp him and put him back in his cage as punishment. After 3 mins let him loose and try again show him who is boss If he does bad in the cage he goes. if he does good reward him. People and animals learn from from repetition the Declarity part of learning eventually it becomes the habitual part of learning that is competitive
Good Luck and enjoy him

It is easy and it wont hurt the bird. A water mister with an adjustable spray and adjust it to a little more than a mist, or if he is persistant make it more, Keep it close at hand when you let him out and when he flys towards your face give him a blast from the mister. Just keep making it a little more severe if he persists. Do not let him see the mister if you can and after he is scared away by the mister approach him with your finger for him to hop up and be comforted

My budgie has always landed on my shoulder for some reason.
But he is pals with a sun conure and a caique that usually like to hang up there as well.
My caique however, is the one who occasionally will fly onto faces. He's a bad flyer though, and he hardly flies unless he really really wants to do something. Your budgie probably flies much better so you probably have more to work with.
When I'm trying to get my budgie back in his cage, I sometimes have to lift my arms in front of him (while he's flying around the cage) so that he has to land on them somehow. He's a little trickster though, so maybe you won't have to be quite so forceful with your budgie. You could try turning when he goes to fly, or lifting you arm up to encourage him to perch there instead.
Do you frequently have him on your shoulder?
Maybe if he's there more often, he might be more inclined to fly there instead.
You could try setting him on your shoulder while you eat dinner and then putting little tidbits of healthy food on your shoulder for him to try. My birds certainly seem to enjoy it.
Keep trying

Hi,
If your nose is has a Pinocchio style...you're doumed...lol...
Another way perhaps would be to make him (or her) a little
stand... where he could go get treats when outside his cage...
He will feel rewarded and loved and you could created that
little stand to look like a little tree if you have this ability....
If this doesn't work, but I think it will, created yourself a nose
cushion made with a little cloth an elastic.. You will save your nose and keep your bird happy...lol...
Good luck...

When he flies toward your face just put your hand out to get him before he can get to your nose and hurt you. Eventually he will see that he is suppose to land on the hand, not the face.

you are just going to have to punch him to the floor everytime he tries that S H Y T. and so that he lands some where else, put a treat on that area.

It means that he really likes you and thinks that you'll protect it or something. that happened to my bird. She died and now I miss her landing on me.... :( But if you really get irritated, just ask the vet. Maybe somethings wrong with it
