Where on earth did you get this information from?! There are many Christian Scientists who have exactly the same 'credentials' as any other. I do believe during Darwin's time, the church was very slow off the mark, as the faith had not been put to the 'scientific test' up unitl that point and for some 50 years thereafter, they didn't do much to refute it, nor did they feel they had to. This allowed the theory of evolution to take a lot of ground that it doesn't deserve and is what most of us today were educated with. Did you know that a lot of the stuff that we were taught has been recanted in the scientific world, but has not been updated in schools? This is shockingly slack really. Creation scientists have shown scientifically, that the religious perspective takes less energy to believe than evolution scientists. There is a perfectly acceptable Creationist position in every scientific realm you can think of, and the views are not outrageous in nature - they are very worthy in fact, and ought to be recognised as such. If God created this earth, man and everything else, He would be the ultimate Scientist but, a lot of the so-called intellects cannot accept that they do not know it all. Pride is the problem here, and causes as much damage in the scientific realm as it does in everyday life and you don't have to be a scientist to figure that out. Another 'kid on the block' threatens the existance of these sorts of people. Think about it - it's big business and they have a lot to lose!

Upon what are you basing your assumptions? And are you including all religions here in your all-encompassing generality? What makes you think religions hate science? From a Christian perspective, Christians don't hate science. That's a baseless comment, if you were including Christianity. However, there are plenty of theories out there that masquerade as fact, even though the "evidence" upon which they're based is tenuous, at best. Personally, I believe those who don't believe in [a] God try their hardest to prove to others, but mostly to themselves, that there truly *isn't* a God, for if there were, they would be in big trouble.
CS Lewis was a die-hard atheist before he did some research, and his conclusions shocked even him. Check out _Mere Christianity_ if you'd like to hear sound, logical viewpoints from this former atheist.
Oh, and Christians use scientific and archaeological evidence ALL the time to prove to the unbelieving world that what the Bible says is true. Unfortunately, the world already has its mind set and won't even conceive of other arguments. It's a shame that so many people are so close-minded!

Surely you are misinformed. I think you have been misguided by Christianity. But all religions are not the same. The Quran speaks of so many scientific facts that have been verified by scientists today. I recommend you to read a book by the famous medical surgeon , Dr.Maurice Bucaille who has written a book on this topic called "The Bible, The Quran and Science". Get your facts straight before generalising. Religion and Science can exist together. It is the followers of religions that often cannot, or rather do not, follow both.

AS far as I know the main thing that separates christians from scientists is the theory of evolution, because it shuts out the Lord and His creations. I do n ot see that they cannot get along . The scientist need to remember that the evolution theory is exactly that a theory, not proven science. So yes that is going to cause a conflict. However any christian who has been ill uses the scientist technology to help them get well and there is no problem there,as it should be. Besides most christians do not hate, it goes against God and His teachings.

Well I'm a Christian and I love learning from science. I hate when people generalize a whole group of people. I think that we could co exist together. As long as we practice tolerance and have respect for other peoples beliefs.

Strange -- I happen to think science re-enforces the existence of God. Therefore, I don't hate science, I embrace it. Science an religion co-exist quite well in my house. No hypocracy here, DA.

I personally don't hate science... It is not the subject but the subject matter on certain things. There are Christian scientists, If you could be more specific with the question it would be easier to answer. If you were asking why do Christians not agree with evolutionists or something to that matter then I could answer you more specifically

That, my friend, is a trick question for neither can die. Smashing rocks together to make a sharp tool is science, so it can never die. And no matter what, religion will definitely never die. Even if today's religions die, people will make new ones to fill up gaps in our knowledge, and give us hope for the future, and give us meaning.
